Be sure you go to the loot page and click the Register app button toward the bottom of the DEVONthink listing there. Doing this will allow us to send your info to DEVONtechnologies so that you can have your copy of the app registered with them. This way you'll be eligible for discounts on upgrading to newer versions of the app or even upgrading to more powerful editions like DEVONthink Professional and DEVONthink Pro Office.

We'll be sending DEVONtechnologies the info once the TweetBlast ends. If you plan to upgrade right away, though, you'll need to register directly with them before you upgrade:

http://www.devon-technologies.com/suppo … er_js.html

For info on the upgrade paths, visit the following page:

http://www.devon-technologies.com/suppo … de_js.html

If you're looking to find out what's new in version 2.0, you can find out all the details here. And if you'd like to see a comparison between the different editions of the app, you can find a good table showing the differences here.

Note: Although it's a bit of a pain to do things this way (on all ends), we do it to protect your privacy. We value your privacy, so we need you to explicitly allow us to send your info to the developers in situations like this.

Yep, never received mine either even though the tweetblast/help said it did. Was surprised to find it in my Loot later. Not sure if that was because I posted into the "did not get dm message yet"-thread.

BTW, cool stuff you are doing there "MacHeisties" smile

P.S.: Just wondering if the Twitter dm did not get sent if the account points to outside the US? (i.e. Europe e.g.)

The current version of DEVONthink is free for us, but upgrade to 2.0 version will cost 20$ - is it right?

I could have sworn the upgrade between DT Personal 1 and 2 was $10 just last week, but now I'm seeing it's $20.  Am I mis-remembering?

If we have a copy of Devonthink from the Mac Heist retail bundle, is that version eligible for an upgrade discount as well?  I am curious because if I put Devonthink onto two computers, I want them to be the same version so I can share the databases.

It should be eligible for the same (normal) upgrade discount as the TweetBlast copies. Just follow the links in johnred's first post.

However, if it's just for yourself, you only need one license anyway:
"Can I use your software on two computers?
Yes, our license explicitly allows you to use our application non-simultaneously on up to two Macs. So, for example, if you install one of our products on a laptop and a desktop Mac, you may do so as long as you only use one of them at a time. ... "

Me, I can't upgrade unfortunately. You can't upgrade a pro office version, right? wink

Thanks for the whole privacy thing. Not too many sites would put this extra step in just assuming you were ok with giving your information because you got the app. I personally didn't care in this case but it is cool to know you guys are thinking about that kind of stuff:)!

Thanks for the info.  Should have known the Devon people would be cool like that.  That's how licenses should work; by person, not by computer.  The developers who realize that in this day and age people regularly use two, three or more computers want to be able to use their favorite software on all of them, and we shouldn't have to pay for each computer.

Thanks
