I sense a major time sink coming into my life. That game is addicting. I am not one who shops for Mac games, so my introduction to them has been entirely through MacHeist, and that has worked out quite nicely for me. smile

The World of Goo application when downloading through the "Get License" link in your email includes the pre- registered version of the game.
For kinemac, go to www.macheist.com/orders, login if necessary, and find the macheist III link at left, your receipt will appear in the pane at right, then scroll down to the Kinemac area, and select the RegistrationFile.txt link there.

Same here for both apps. No Problemo, though. We have thirty days to solve all issues. Bet they are slammed even if the bundle counter seems to be going whacko.

Just played some GOO...I am not a "gamer but it was an elegant game - in a squishy way...I like the fact that you must figure out everything and there are no "helps". Had fun. Can't wait to watch friends figure it out and enjoy it too.

Reminds me of early "Architectural design" classes where we had to support X amount of phone books with straws strings and glue. (Came in second!...teehee) Same kind of suspense and logical thinking.

I am surprised by how much I enjoy it.

That's exactly what I loved about world of goo. The 2dboy blog (guys who made it) has a great ongoing series of posts about the making of the game. It's amazing to see how far the game went from the basic concept of building stuff with blobs of goo to the final product. The developers, being a 2-man team, seem to be really aware of the game design - everything in the game works in synergy to create the whole experience. Nothing is superfluous.
The experience is streamlined in every way possible, and never directly takes you by the hand and tells you what to do, but at the same time eases the player into figuring out some really clever goo architecture strategies. No two levels are alike, as the game constantly reinvents itself, to the very end.

I really think the main problem with games these days is the fact that large game studios don't have the vision and focus that went into making WoG - it's all about more features, better graphics and it seems the core idea of creating a novel interactive experience for the player is gone.

USEFUL PART OF POST:

Btw - you can change the resolution (and I reccommend you do so!) - you need to explore the actual world of goo app package (show package contents) and go to: ".../World of Goo.app/Contents/Resources/game/properties/config.txt', edit the config file to whatever resolution you want. Works fine both on my MacBooks 1280*800 and my external 1920*1050 monitor.

What can I say that has not being said? World Of Goo is just one of the best games I ever played. Too bad I bought it 2 weeks ago ... if not, I had already bought the bundle. Now, however, I am not sure if I will buy it.

@om3ga777 I got it off Steam for $6 a couple of weeks back, which was just ridiculously cheap. So I did some mental arithmetic:

bundle $39 - discount $8 = $31 - charity % = $23
I though I wouldn't mind paying $8 more for another copy of World of Goo, and all the other apps are definitely worth my $15.
(Heck, if I was into video editing they would probably be worth $150)

It's a very bad thing that this game is included because – having finished the game a few weeks ago on my Wii – I now feel compelled to try to get OCD status on all puzzles.  Before I had to wait until I could make time on the big TV with the Wii (my wife doesn't like the game, so I have to wait until she's gone to bed), but now with it on my laptop I'm going to have to fight every second of every day to not play it at inappropriate times, like during work, or at meal times, etc.

It's a great game. I already had this before, of course. One small issue I have with it is that the last few levels seem to be squeezed into a deadline. It's still definitely worth the price tag on it, much more so as part of a bundle.

Three missions and the Tweetblast I think? I can't remember exactly, and the tokens are gone now that I bought the bundle. Definitely was $8 though.

Afaik, if you buy if from the devs' website you get all 3 versions. If you got it off Steam, they used to just mail people the links to the other versions on request (there is *NO* copy protection in the game), but stopped doing so when the volume of requests got too large to handle. They might have an automated system in the future (speculation)? I assume it would be the same for the MacHeist bundle.

Seeing as you own a license, and the developer is not opposed to it, it might be easiest for you to get the other versions via P2P. I'll leave the morality of such things up to you.

Nobody noticed the lame resolution of World of Goo in fullscreen?
Here is a solution:

Right click "World of Goo" and click "Show Package Contents".
Then navigate to "Contents > Resources > game > properties".

Open the file "config.txt" and change the screen width and height into your native screen resolution.
Like this on a 20" iMac:
<param name="screen_width" value="1680"/>
<param name="screen_height" value="1050"/>

Save the file and start the game... Nice crisp fullscreen graphics.

I'd never heard of it before, but from now on, it will waste more time than any of my other apps.  I'm normally not that into games, but the concept is cool, especially if you have ever done anything related to bridge/tower building.

Thanks for the tip on changing the resolution.  It made the game look a lot nicer, smile.  Now back to checking out the other bundle apps.

1) Does the licence include the mac version AND the PC version of World of Goo if we purchase it with the MacHeist bundle ? On the world of Goo website they offer both versions (and a linux version...) for the same price (20$).

2) Is the mac version compatible with PowerPC and Intel processors?
