Heh, and you though it ended here

Yes. This is it. If you're reading this... well, you've solved the first puzzle, congratulations. Ready to pick up your prize? Sure, one sec.

Oh right, it doesn't end quite yet. Hope you enjoy puzzles, because this is where it gets tough. But since you did just figure this little one out, i'll give you a break with the next step. You'll find it on my friend's site, visit it at assignmentplanner.burgundylogan.com.

Step #4 wrote:

On assignmentplanner.burgundylogan.com, you find a puzzle piece.  Clicking on it brings up a larger version.  Obviously you will need to complete the puzzle, but how?

Step #5 wrote:

Look hard enough at this pdf, opened with textedit, and you will find a link to

You will find another puzzle piece

This piece's file name is the clue.

Step #6 wrote:

Hint, download the largest size.  Otherwise clues might be hidden.

Where is this from?
RougeAmoeba's post on the "Delicious Generation"

It is referring to Disco.

Go to discoapp.com

There you will find another piece

Step #11 wrote:

Copy and paste.

Look at the keywords again.  "Seek supercontinental fun!"

Step #16 wrote:

This has the clue "MacUpdate has what you need to wrap this up. Look for app #8277" embedded in it.

This is the final piece.  Add all the pieces into some application capable of handling them (I used Pages)

The message on the puzzle is: the last steps are the hardest ones to take dot com

thelaststepsarethehardestonestotake.com

The one downloaded from the desktop folder via FTP did not work (for me anyways). Plus it was over 25MB in size whereas the one I downloaded from the official site is just over 6MB in size and works.
It's a clue! It has to be! wink

Heh, now that I think about IRC, I sure miss IRCle big_smile

I have to say, THANKS!

I had to do this from my Parent's Powerbook (running 3.9), and I didn't have a clue how to go about this heist.... They still open pdf's into Adobe Reader by default! hah ha!

It's really for the best, though, since I already have the apps or suitable equivalents on my machine - now I can teach my folks how to be even more confused with their Mac! wink   Who knows, they may even buy upgrades when they get grandkids who move all over the world!  ANd play something other than Burning Monkey Solitaire or Ancient Hearts and Spades....

If they had a remote, I'd even download Mira from macappaday, but they don't, and neither do I.

again, THANKS!

Oh, and awesome heist.... I really do wonder how many people figured this out on thier own without looking for flickr photostreams beforehand, randomly......and I'm now hoping against all hope that Rapid Weaver is part of the bundle.   Almost final answer.......I know you couldn't possible include the Raid Weaver MEGA Bundle with the business and blog templates!

Yeah, could someone, like, mail or PM the .pdf or mirror it?
Not fun to be stuck.

Edit: Finally working!

1. A robbery or holdup: "Thousands of people were involved in the armored mac heist."

has some sort of
"this" "is" "not" "here" thingy.

Coincidence? I Think NOT!

edit: Also, Plan.txt says:

"Lisa, instructions here. If you have questions, email me, brian@maczot.com.

1.  Create a believable developer persona over the week. It must be convincing enough to fool MacUpdate into believing he or she is real.

2.  Somehow convince them to implicate themselves with involvment. Not sure how yet, but perhaps a fabricated heist puzzle might do the trick.

3.  You must convince the directorate of MacUpdate's plans to sabotage MacZOT with a spoofed email address. I am emailing you with instructions on how to do that.

4.  I have a programmer working on an app to "crack" the zot mailbox I have set up. I have instructed him to send this to you as soon as it's ready for delivery to the directorate, again through a spoofed MU email.

5.  If they are suspicious, do everything you can to convince them.

6.  DO NOT leave ANY evidence of your involvement or mine.

If these steps are accomplished as requested, you will be handsomely compensated, and of course your stake in iusethis.com should become more valuable as MacUpdate's name is smeared.

I'd like to thank you again for being so receptive to this plan... good luck, and keep me posted."

edit2: Also, how am I supposed to send "That double-crossing hussy !!!!" to MacUpdate? E-Mail?

edit3: Lol, I got it. Is it correct if I sent "That double-crossing hussy !!!!" to http://www.macupdate.com/tips.php ?

edit4: Woohoo! I finished. One more heist to go. I used 2112 for heist 5, it worked.

Nollid, I'm not sure if you meant to mess it up, but you did (the "select-to-see" thing).

If you want to make a STS, you have to format it correctly. My guess is that you wrote something like this:

[ quote=step #1][ color=f1f1f1] bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla blabber bla. [ /color][ /quote]

That looks like this:

step #1 wrote:

bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla blabber bla.

You should have made the color tag like this:

[ color=#f1f1f1] this is the correct color tag [ /color]

Thanks a lot. My mac's a bit poorly and i've been having to work at heavily restricted windows boxes to do these and half the steps aren't even possible. I always feel like such a cheat using the backroom, but I haven't go much choice.

Thanks,
Leon
