Just bought the package, and am trying to fire up RipIt. Unfortunately, it won't take the email and serial from the receipt -- keeps giving a registration error when I try. What's up?

I get the same thing... it says to use copy/paste, and even when I do, it just keeps popping up the "Use Copy/Paste" dialogue box, and doesn't accept it.

Me too - ideas?

I get the message: "An error occurred attempting to expand Ripit-1.zip. The archive may be damaged,
Error #17537"

Hence I cannot even unzip the file, leave alone installing it.

Part of Mchiest bundle I am unable to activate copy past no- type in no- so whats up?

Ripit - launches, see Insert DVD icon, so I insert DVD but nothing else happens - no dialogue box, nada, nix. Please advise. (and had major problems buying the thing as the entry form kept rejecting my name...)

Just downloaded this with the macheist bundle, but it says I can't open it with the OSX that I have (which is 10.4.11). Does this mean I won't be able to use this?

Never mind.  I just saw on the developer's website that I need at least 10.5. Grrr.

I did not see any notice about 10.5!!! So, all I get is not usable with this Mac...Bummer!!! I think it stinks when AFTER you buy, you are notified it won't work!!!!...B

Check the settings
Go to Ripit -> Preferencec-> General
At "When a disc is insert" make sure "Use DiscIdent to find title" is marked
Insert a movie DVD and see if "Insert DVD" isn't changed and give you the choice of rip/compress

Hey there! The present MacOSX is 10.6
This might sound hard but most new app will not work under 10.4 and some not even under 10.5 if you use PPC. If you use an old system you have to check before you buy. If this is the first apps you buy be happy you didn't vast more money. Be very, very careful as long as you stay on 10.4 to check before you buy any app.
A bit of pain relief - for some of the apps you can get an older versions from the developers website and use the same serial. NB for some - not for all

Hey... just bought the bundle and installed RipIt today.  I put in Star Wars Episode III and it went through and ripped, then spent 2+ hours compressing.  The resulting 1.55 gig MP4 file has issues.  It keeps cycling through the various languages.  Like when it starts up with "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away," you'll see it in English, then in Spanish, then in another language, and then in another.  Then back to English again.  It'll do this two or three times.  Then when the movie starts and "STAR WARS" appears and moves away, it "glitches" every few seconds and repeats itself four times.  This will continue on and on and on until you give up and shut the thing off.

Is there any way to fix this?  Thanks.

Compression is in Beta... it might do funky things... try using HandBrake to compress it after ripping.

I thought I'd successfully ripped my first DVD, everything seems to have worked. But then, when trying to play the file (with the iMac's own DVD player app, I'm using OS 10.5.8), the rip initially plays ok (I get the Universal opening credits etc) but then I get an error message from the DVD Player app saying:

'The disc copy protection could not be verified. This disc cannot be played'.

That's no good really. It's not even a new disc, it's a Yoga DVD from 2003 that I wanted to back up so that I can play it on my laptop when I go on holiday.

Can't import to iTunes. Dvd Ripped perfectly, created a .dvdmedia file, but when attemting to import to itunes, itunes had no response.

After i bought the app RipIT it shows in my downloads as a zip file, when i open te zip it just goes into iTunes.. What am I doing wrong?

At first I also had problems to register the application. However by selecting RipIt -> Registration from the menu bar and then entering my NAME (not the e-mail address!) and the serial number I was able to complete the registration.

You cannot import ripit .dvdmedia files into iTunes. You must convert it using video conversion software like Handbrake.

You can't import a .dvdmedia file into iTunes... use HandBrake or iFlicks to convert it to a .MP4 then import that.

Do you have the disc spin preference checked? I found that unchecking this fixed my immense system slowdown.

I'm having the same register issues as everyone else... Looks like you get what you pay for. Going to email directly to support. reading thru the thread, seems like Ripit is a Rip Off.

In the same boat as Pickpocket, dvd ripped perfectly, just cannot for the life of me get it onto i tunes or touch.

I had the same problem with entering the licencse key but used the email adress instead the NAME, with the name it worked!

RipIt is not a rip off.

Sometimes you guys need to just relax.
