I'm having one hell of a time trying to get Airburst to run. When I launch the screen goes black and errs back out to an error that says "OpenGL Full Screen quit unexpectedly". I have scoured the interwebs and cannot even find anything about this error message.
I have installed Rosetta at the suggestion of some people to no avail. It did change the startup, but only in that it takes longer for the program to err out.
Freeverse have been great sports and have contacted me multiple times with a few possible solutions. The 1st was an patch for the program that failed to run. They returned with another patch for a different version that failed worse than the 1st.
I'm running a 15" Macbook Pro 5,1, 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, and OSX 10.6.2. It's a pretty clean and recent installation, however I tried before I reinstalled the OS from scrap.
I have gone as far to redo my computer completely (for other reasons). I'm not really obsessed with the program, but I don't really know what it is. Despite my efforts my problem persists. Is there anyone who has had a similar problem or that knows of a resolution?
UDPATE: I have found a solution that solves this issue.
Thanks to Zwilnik, an apparent developer for Airburst Extreme, it has been discovered that the app fails to launch if you have a space or special characters in the name of your hard drive or OS partition. Mine had a space and a friend of mine had an apostrophe, which apparently was keeping the program from loading some core files properly.
It took some work but Zwilnik was very patient and extremely helpful in helping me determine my problem. I hope that this also helps others.
