Perhaps if everyone stops complaining on here and tweets and re-tweets about Loren and Twitter and his treatment of customers, the guys at Twitter might notice and be concerned about a tarnished image.

something along the lines of; 'One of the guys at Twitter really let us down......' etc.

Get something like that circulating and it might provoke a response from Loren.

I couldn't care less about Tweetie 2, I don't care which twitter app I use, but he should at least make a statement.

It better be updated today otherwise there going to be a few irate people around these parts. To release a new texting app is kind of showing what his priorities are though.

You assume too much.  Internet boards are Legion.

Seriously, quit your complaining already.  The industry is full of delays, broken promises, and the like.  Need I mention Valve Time?

Indeed, I am starting to get annoy at wasting my time reading post after post of people bitching about this instead of doing something about it or shutting up.

Then stop reading. If you're annoyed, I suggest you stay out of this topic because you can't stop people from posting their thoughts. And you don't have to come here for news, I'm sure MacHeist will tweet when Tweetie 2 beta is out.

So irritated by the fact he released a Textie is irritating as hell. Same with the pointless slot machine update for Tweetie 2 for iPhone. Tweetie 1 is so out of date now and its now May and nothing despite being told that it would be available the end of april, It wouldnt be so bad if he didnt leave us in the dark and be so mysterious all the time.

Well at least he (or someone err Apple/twitter) finally put something in the app store that it will be free soon. I mean it only took what 2-3 weeks after the fact. I like the app but stand by what I said weeks ago. Sorry guess I am just not a atebits/loren fanboy.

I fail to understand why this is such a big deal. Nobody has any idea how far along or how far behind Loren is in writing Tweetie 2 beta. Seeing as he was just acquired by one of the most prominent tech companies, I can imagine there was a lot going on behind the scenes that took away from coding time. Also, how long has it been since the announcement? A few weeks, perhaps a month? Give the guy some time to get settled, I think he deserves it after publishing the best-selling twitter client for iPhone and being acquired by Twitter. He's always been good about updates in the past, there's no reason that's going to change once he gets into his new workspace.

Actually as long as they meet the criteria they set they do, and then add a cherry on top. Guys like Loren who promise a product, get paid for it (I doubt there were very many of us who didn't already have Tweetie and quite a few of us, including myself, bought the bundle mostly for the Tweetie 2 Beta access (haven't used any of the other software I got in the bundle at all)), and don't actually deliver the product are called scammers. I really wouldn't have any problem with this whole thing if he at least bothered to post a quick note saying he encountered a problem or giving some other reason for a delay. So far, we have heard absolutely nothing about the beta.

I'm sick of people saying this. MacHeist is not the developer and therefore cannot magically make a beta for Tweetie 2 appear.

Your implied contract stated that you would get Tweetie as a part of the bundle, which you did. It also stated that you would get access to the Tweetie 2 beta, which you will. It did not state when the beta would be released in any binding fashion. What was said was that it was projected to be ready in April. Projections can sometimes be wrong. This is an example.

Don't try to make problems based on principles of contract law when you don't understand said principles. And drop the sense of entitlement. You got a bunch of software at a double digit percentage discount and nothing in the agreement when you purchased has been broken.

The requirement that Tweetie 2 had to be available in April is of your own making. Stop acting like it's a fact.

Clearly the directorate isn't to blame for this, and I don't hold them responsible for not providing the beta, but I do think that they could be slightly more vocal, even if its along the lines of "we tried to speak to Loren.  No news of when tweetie 2 will be released."

I also feel that they could be a little more selective when choosing devs for MH4.  What with this, spamming, and Clips, I do feel that this particular nanoBundle was slipping a bit in quality compared to other bundles.  There have been some great apps/devs (latenitesoft with squeeze particularly have been awesome to work with.  I have nothing but respect for Pedro, who worked extremely hard to fix our issues within the first fews days) and I'll continue to participate in MH, but its things like this which can tarnish the experience for everyone.

Saying that, I think atebits were fairly respected before this debacle, and it wasn't up to the directorate to foresee the buyout; they (and we) thought they were bringing a great app and developer to the bundle.  From what it looks like, Loren will provide Tweetie 2 at some point, so we need to just wait it out.  I'm not happy about it, and I don't think he's being very nice to his supporters, but then he works for Twitter now, so from a business perspective, it doesn't matter what we think of him.  if he screws us over, he won't lose out!

Read the post I replied to. It was specifically talking about "If we don't get the beta". Not "If we get the beta late". I agree with you on the timing issue, I seem to remember them saying we would get it before others, so all they have to do is release it a day early. But if we never get it, there are grounds for complaint.

Seems to easy for developers to take the money from MH and then screw us, the customers. Similarly buggy software that does not do as advertised has been in the bundles and should have been screened out.

I don't think MH is to blame, but their system obviously has flaws that don't protect the customer.

I also do NOT hold or think MH is responsible but would imagine that they also must be a little miffed and would have liked to see some king of hey we are looking into this type of message from them. Kind of a we are looking out for you type thing. The responsibility falls on the developer/owner. Case in point: I got a gift card for itunes from Best Buy, got home tried to use it and it was invalid? Called Best Buy and they immediately said to call apple that there was nothing they could do and Apple was the "owner" of the card. Needless to say I was not happy but Apple did take care of it right away problem solved. Best Buy did offer to help further if I had any problems with apple so they did show that they wanted to help remedy the problem. That's just my take on it.........

The problems tend to be about the betas. Chaching 2.0b took a year,  THL is still in beta, and now tweeting 2.

If it were me I'd agree on a date for the beta to be issued (and some parameters for features, stability, etc) for full payment to be made. If the dev does not deliver then they lose that last payment.

I want to see more from MH in MH4 that will avoid these issues that happen with every MH. Either make the devs deliver by a certain date, or for MH to not use future releases as part of the marketing strategy. If they do have a beta or future version (future anthing for that matter) in MH4 I hope to see some kind of accountability or display from MH that we won't get taken for a ride....again.

I understand that everyone is upset about the beta, etc. but I have to say, I'm really enjoying Tweetie 1.2.6 and it quickly replaced Twitterific. As such, I really can't complain.

Combine that with the steal of a deal pricing for nanoHeist 2 and it's hard to describe the situation as "being taken for a ride." Seriously, that's just laughable.

No, I was referring to the way developers (and MH) promise something, then fail to deliver in a timely manner (Tweetie2, Cha-Ching 2, THL 1.0) or at all. It just seems that all the advertised future actions are highly suspect. Example, Cha Ching promised v2 beta during or shortly after the sale.  Fact is they were not even close. The result was we waited a year, and now the project looks dead. Did MH even ask to see a working copy of the beta? No, they tool their word for it and who loses? Us, the buyers.

Its that kind of lack of control I'd like to see taken care of. If the Devs say x will happen, MH needs to make sure it will or else.

You should be suspicious in the first place, as soon as you hear the promise made. Why? Because you fell for it twice already. It is up to Macheist to hold up their side of the deal, but Loren was bad about communicating to his licensees well before MH recruited his app for their bundle. If some product you want to buy has the potential to disrupt your life enough for you to care, then it would be wise to make more informed decisions, particularly in light of some of the previous promises from past bundles.

Simple. Hold xx% of their payment until the promised product is released. PUt it in a contract (not that they have contracts). No protracted legal battle when it is all in writing.

I personally don't use Tweetie (or any other twitter app), Chaching, or THL. However I find the trend disturbing and does indeed make me lose a good deal of trust in any future statements from these sales.

To a certain point I can understand your disappointment but with the world of software, when someone makes a promise of releasing a future version 'soon' they rarely seem to keep their promise anyway regardless of their intention. Take note to remember Loren and avoid dealing with him (or any bundles he would be involved in) in the future. We do have a choice when buying and in time, karma will find him. If that is how you feel, of course.

No one is pointing the finger. I just think we need an official status update from one of the parts, Macheist or Loren.

This is a serious problem...Many people bought the bundle exclusively to gain early access to Tweetie 2 and we aren't told a thing. We all understand what happen in the mean time but a few minutes to give customers a word isn't asking to much, is it?!

We all build our hopes to high and we were left down, this is a fact.

I feel bad for those of you who bought the bundle in anticipation of getting your hands on Tweetie 2 any time soon.  Those of us who have dealt with Loren in the past have long known that he is extremely unprofessional in his lack of communication and updates on his work.  It's not just the transition to working for Twitter that's at work here.  This is his M.O.  Paying customers are virtually ignored for months on end, and then he'll pop up with some vague statement or promise, and then promptly disappear again.  In other words, don't expect to see Tweetie 2 before the end of summer at the earliest.  If you get it before then, consider yourselves lucky.  I swore that I'd never contribute another dime to his bottom line, so I'm glad that future updates to the Tweetie apps will be free.

Hang in there.  One of these days, it's bound to show up.

I must be the only person who's entirely happy with the current Tweetie:Mac. If it isn't broken, why the hell should I get all upset that there's no update? What am I missing? Native retweets and lists. I'm perfectly willing to give up a tiny bit of functionality for the great UX of Tweetie one. Sure, I'll upgrade when or if it ever gets released, but it's not exactly a pressing issue.

tl;dr There's nothing wrong with Tweetie one, stop whining that you didn't get free software.

THe only thing that bothers me is that i cannot hide the dock icon, other than that it's all good for me.

I'm even trying Kiwi, which is suposedly better, but i'm still rooting for tweetie.
