September 23 (Makes sense to me, they get out two days before Halo 3 and Mac Expo Europe. Of course, this is assuming that the directorate is being crafty. If not, it could start anywhere from 9/23 to 12/21.

boboboe wrote:

Phill tweeted "MacHeist II coming this fall." I had always assumed that MacHeist II would start in November like MacHeist I did, so does this mean that it is starting earlier?

I don't really see as news... fall is from Sept 20ish to December 20ish. November could very well be the start date, but Phill's tweet would lead me to believe it may be earlier. We'll see.

The MH2 bundle will also whiten your teeth, improve your sex life, and bring you one step closer to zen.

And until it is released, you can keep reading teasers from me that are frustratingly light on information and heavy on hype.

No, but seriously guys, it's gonna kick ass. tongue

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but if I told you anything about the apps in the bundle, one of the bundle developers might just hunt you down and... I'll leave it at that.

The app list is good though. Really strong. What's even cooler though is the pre-sale experience in the works. The best heist last time around pales in comparison to any one of the missions we're planning for 2.

Looking good!
Can't wait for the heists and bundle. Hopefully it'll be about the same price, as I don't think I'd want to spend more than $50 on Mac apps.

Also with everyone around again, us mods will have an easier time dealing with the spam.

Some of you would spend that much on single apps in this bundle, so we'll see. tongue

Probably not. Those who bought the skunkworks bundle will have first dibs on MHII access (them and one other person, since if i recall right it said you could generate two tickets, so if you know someone who got one but you didn't, ask them), but if you didn't, it doesn't mean you won't be able to get in. I mean, I doubt it. It would be a stupid move to limit it to skunkworks participants anyway.

Anyway, I've been avoiding math homework for way too long. I HATE pre-calc. x.x I wish 8 was a perfect square. So badly. ;;

I generally enjoyed MacHeist I, but this time, I would appreciate less endless baiting on irc and less pretending to be "zomg true and for real hacking" as in MacUpdate, etc. It gets very old very fast.

i thought the "role playing" (or whatever) was all good fun, but to each his own.  i'll admit that it (skunkworks) did tend to suck up a lot of time i should have been spending doing other, pressing things, but i guess that just means i was having a good time.

Yeah, I agree the extra "ooohhh" story behind that didn't wow me either. I mean, I don't mind, but we're not dumb. And everyone should be allowed to say what they want (well, almost wink ).

I agree, I liked the hunts and following the clues (at least trying to), but I pretty much skimmed over all the storyline stuff. But there's nothing wrong with it, and I guess it does add to the experience.

I think most are simply in it for the cheap entry into the software. If you have followed Phill, you find other great contributions to the Mac community such as My Dream App. What Phill, and the team has done, is to further highlight the Apple scene. What they are also being forced to do, in a way, is to constantly one-up the past heist—no easy feat considering they have real lives.

Nah, storyline is an important part of any story... as long as it's continuous. Just as long as it's continuous (and good), I can get wrapped up in pretty much any storyline.

You guys seem to have hit upon the core heist formula in this thread so far: stories, puzzles, and freebies to hunt for. They're all there, and more, this time around.

We want every day of this to be like hitting a page turner of a chapter ending. Addiction. big_smile

The idea of role-playing and the suspension of disbelief is at the core of MacHeist. I don't see what the problem is with having puzzles to work through and having the "covert ops" kind of atmosphere which has been cultivated here in the past.

I mean, what you rather have Phill, John and the Directorate do? Throw up some download links on a .mac page spit out of iWeb? tongue
