Can someone please sum this heist up for me?
I don't want to read through 16 pages worth of comments, and I really want the answer...

If it's like last year, the better part of a year.  However, I wouldn't be too complacent about it, because there was no warning when they did finally get around to cleaning the old loot out of the safe.  To be on the safe side, download as soon as possible and save copies of your registration codes in a safe place.

I'm not sure how late this post is, but I have cut up the first one, and it defiantly is not just lining them up by the background picture, you then have to cut them up where the text is cut and then align all those pieces up. The text reads:

Walk 2 blocks West and take a left. walk down half a block and look for the yellow sign on your left. make note of the letters that its name ends with.• continue south and turn right at the next intersection. walk forward two blocks and look up. what is the first letter of the name of the large purple sea creature. Head west one more block. Turn north and go just past the first intersection, than look

to the left. would you forge the river or chuck your wagon and cross? note the first letter of the second word. • keep heading north and take a left when you pass the gas station, head west until you hit the 900 block. at the end of a block

there is a place that has more flowing out of it than sound. note the second to the last letter in its name. keep heading west until you hit 11th, then turn left. keep going south until things get start to seems a bit fishy, then turn left. walk one block and look for the purple awning on the right.note the second to the last letter in its name. • continue east and take a left at the third intersection. make your way

to the end of the 800 block and look to your left. chances are they are okay with their president. note the 4th letter in the second word of the name. • continue north. take a left at the third intersection. take a right at the cleaners on the
to the left. would you forge the river or chuck your wagon and cross? note the first letter of the second word. • keep heading north and take a left when you pass the gas station, head west until you hit the 900 block. at the end of a block

corner, turn so you are heading north. keep going north until you see a stop sign. Look at the last store on the block on your right. what os the last letter in its name?
• head north and turn east at the 5th intersection. go forward 2 blocks. don't panic, we're almost there. Continue going forward, watching the right hand side of the road. Write down the last letter of the store where bees can thrive.

So, anyone up for some walking?

They sound like telephone tone signals, probably spell something.

I actually used audacity to analyze the tone signals. You get two spikes with each tone. I then used the DMTF page on wiki to determine what the numbers were. Unfortunately, with wee ones around, I missed one number and dialed a useless number in Corbett, Oregon. I checked what others had found, rechecked my work, and caught my mistake. That was a pretty cool heist. Does anyone here actually live in Portland? It was a nice tour of your city!

Actually, wrong Thread but O.K,... do you see this safe in the top right corner of your MacHeist Front Page? Enter the Number, hit Activate, and you're done.

the only problem with doing that is that we've already proven the correct number... it's never helpful to post your differing opinion when the correct answer has already been proven. it's good that you tried, just be sure to read before you post (and don't confuse posting with contributing).

The logicboard insight the RDF looks like one of the three boards you had to assamble during the heist.
This maybe got nothing to do whith anything at all, but I wanted to mention it here.

In the end everything will be fine.

Wow, just wow.  This is the first Heist I've "done" (tried to do, really).  I will need to set aside a lot more time next time, I'm too busy this time around to really get into it.  Thanks everyone for the help and walk through.  I could not have done most of this myself without weeks of free time.

This is my signature? Oh wait, this IS my signature.  Why do I post useless crap in here?

Amen! This is exactly the type of attitude we're trying to COMBAT here. We want people to be involved, not just to leach off of those of use actually interested in more than just getting free stuff. I'd be fine w/MH if there wasn't any loot. Some how I'm getting the impression that most of you newbs out there would be fine with MH if there weren't any heists...

Don't make pointless overgeneralizations. I'm sure you haven't serveyed the thousands of newbs who are taking part this time round. You're basing that on a tiny sample of people, who are more likely to post anyway because they're trying to get the answers from others instead of working it out.

You can find the exact numbers in the wav file by using this site.
hxxp:/ / dialabc.com/sound/detect/

The number I got was in (503) 608-4357  based in Beaverton, OR

When you do a search on google maps for just "stark street", Stark St, Eugene, Lane, OR 97404 is one of the choices.

Now the question is should I call the number and possibly get an irate person on the other line. smile

I used audacity audacity.sourceforge.net/ and an explanation of DTMF nemesis.lonestar.org/reference/telecom/signaling/dtmf.html to verify that the number is 503-608-4357. Around each of the tones I converted the plot to the frequency domain and the dual components show up nicely.

To answer your question, take a look at the MU Promo Bundle page comments over at MU; controversies aside, Joel and the developers have gotten together to put together a fantastic software deal for Mac users; they even put in another app free of charge, plus they extended the deadline so more people could buy into it...

...and people are still freaking complaining - people are whining about getting more free apps, "early adopters" are for no apparent or logical reason complaining that they're not getting special treatment from Joel (as if buying early into the bundle makes them somehow the Landed Gentry of Joel's customers)...the point I'm trying to make is that a lot of people these days, regardless of age, have developed a sense of baseless entitlement and instant gratification. Actually doing something for anything, even the most token, basic action, is unfathomable. It's all just "gimme, gimme, gimme". It's sad.
