I haven't gotten my Xslimmer license as of yet.

Go Orange Team!
If you've paid for this, I'd keep it...the loot version is most likely non-upgradable.

I got a full license of Xslimmer a while ago from iheist when it was around.
Wow. I didn't think anyone ever got their loot from iHeist.

I wouldn't bother with gifting anything from the LOOT section, unless you have no use for any license of it. Even then, i'd only install it on a system of yours or someone who has no possibility of enjoying MacHeist (Macs do appeal to people with no computer skills).
Reason being, it's free, and the devs don't normally submit a license to loot as a "full" license you might get from a regular MacZot or MuPromo. Usually, it's singular build that doesn't get even a same-version update, except in some circumstances. Read each license info for specifics -- several do allow upgrading to just before the next full version.
Bascially, if someone wants XSlimer and they're reading this? They need to do themselves a favor and complete the heist. (and get the bundle discount)
The license granted shouldn't be up for grabs in iTrade or anywhere like that.

My advice to everyone is to enjoy the awesome loot, but ditch XSlimmer as fast as you possibly can. I ran it after I got it from the last MU promo. It completely ruined my system. Fortunately I had a time machine backup from the day before (restoring from a TM backup works beautifully by the way!), but I lost a whole afternoon of productivity.

I think you did something wrong then. I've been using the program for two years and I've never had a problem.
Yeah same here. I have been using it for a long time now and have never run into any problems. Actually with each update, it gets even better. I don't see how it can ruin your system unless you are slimming system files or something like that, which you shouldn't touch with any utility.

Personally I have been pretty happy with Xslimmer. I even let it search my applications folder and pick which programs to slim. It is pretty interesting to see which programs slim down their file size significantly. I am interested to see what it might save me with Office08 and CS3 when I step up. Xslimmer and Xmind is why I bought the MacUpdate promo pack.

Agreed--Xslimmer was a huge reason why I bought the MUPromo (Forklift and Yep were the other reasons).

Exactly. Have I let it touch things in my Utilities folder? Yes. Should I have? Probably not. Did anything bad happen? No. It's such a simple program that you can just let it do it's thing, it's smart enough to not screw up...
BTW - CS3 is entirely blacklisted.
Not entirely, but damn close.
Also, I did a test on an install of Tiger. I slimmed /Library and /System
It was fine. Well, mostly. Some programs made in Java would not run, but other than that it was fine, oddly.
I expected the system to die, heh.

MU was a great bundle for this Mac n00b. I'm a bit disappointed with this version of Forklift. Much slower FTP than Yummy and counterintuitive rename utility. I blogged the dev and look forward to FL 1.5. Never thought I'd use a mind mapper but I love XMIND!Great way to collect my scattered thoughts. My app folder is hungry for tonight's bundle.
