to the two guys above me.

It was given as a prize for completing a 'pre-mission' held 30 days before the beginning of MacHeist3 (about 45 days ago) and ended at the beginning of MH3 (about 15 days ago)

So if you missed it, no MacDust for you...

Thanks a Lot

Sometimes, there are programs(f.ex. Aperture) Which does not remove its receipts, so any update is shown in software update section. It would be great if this problem were solved.

Hey, how do you get Mac Dust?  Its not in my loot.

I don't seem to have MacDust in my list of "Loot." Did I miss something? Seems like a very handy app to have...although it sounds like it may operate similar to Onyx or MainMenu.

Trust me, you're better off without MacDust.  You could try xMod, it doesn't clean out cache besides in Safari, but it does all the other stuff MacDust, and much much more:

seems there's quite a few people having trouble understanding the meaning of the word 'reset'

is it a language problem?

@Timi maybe change Reset Safari to  'Restore to factory settings' ? ?

I think it also has a problem with other maintenance oriented programs that have "reset" features that will delete cookies, empty caches, and rotate/delete log files- all good things - but generally don't touch bookmarks or plugins- thus I think most people were thinking - oh, it IS about time to get rid of my 400 MB cache of sites and all those NSFW cookies- hmm..  neat little app to do that AND clean my drive- can life get better... and then *poof*  instead of the "reset" you were socialized to understand, it reset Safari back to its originally installed configuration- that is- no bookmarks, no cookies- no cache- etc.

I do like the reset function, if only it were in a menu or something. Accidental loss of bookmarks should be warned against!

I believe you would have had to participate in the Mainframe- MacHeist Pregaming- Mission to get more than just Process (which is a pretty neat little app); but I wasn't active then, so, I too only have Process.   But I believe other people have weighted in about this- you would have had to start pregaming with the others!

MacDust is nice, but there are other apps out there that do the same thing. Visit MacUpdate and have a look around, I'm sure you'll find something you like that will do the job.

When I saw that Timi was a new MacHeist overlord, I installed, ran and upgraded the software. (Congrats, on the promotion, btw.) Unfortunately, there's no way to know that it is a *paid* upgrade. Instead, I will run the software and uninstall it. The minor hassle reminds me of the SpeedDemon debacle of last year. Maybe version 3.06 will warn people against upgrading!

Thanks for the app, Tim. I'll be keeping both the free loot version as well as the latest. WIll definitely consider paying for the upgrade, however... thanks for the discount.

If you do not want to pay the upgrade fee to acquire a full MacDust license, you DO NOT HAVE TO.
Just (re)download 3.04 from your loot!

@izcale - xMod is not like MacDust, trust me - I worked with the developer on the Tools section of MacDust 3.

@MacGizmo - You will not find anything similar to MacDust on MacUpdate for the same price range, guaranteed.  MacCleanse is more expensive, and nothing else really performs cleaning the way MacDust and MacCleanse do.

@bricklayer - You are more than welcome to continue using 3.04; just redownload it from your loot.  This is not like SpeedDownload, you did not (and are not required to) pay for the MacDust loot.

Thank you for the quick response.

I certainly understand that I can redownload and reinstall the earlier version but as a user, this is pretty inconvenient. This is why I recommend explaining to the user that the latest upgrade is a paid upgrade to prevent us from unintentionally upgrading at all. (Similar to SpeedDownload's eventual solution.)

Another suggestion: Maybe I'm missing something, but is there no way to turn off auto-updates once initially set? This would also help out the MacHeist sub-users.

How did I manage to not get MacDused....?

I guess I missed the Mainframe heist... so I will just buy it... I used it last night and it seem to run as the web site said.  I was cautious about Safari as I read about the trigger finger action of the App... I like it.

MacDust 3.02 is expected soon.
It is intended to be a free update for MacHeist users.  Make sure you've downloaded and launched the MacHeist version from your loot page before using the new version.

This update includes:
- Fixed interface issue where some system languages were unable to launch MacDust
- "Reset _____" has been reworded by suggestion of MacHeist Users
- Reduced possibility of accidental toggling
- More beautiful icons from Wil Nichols.
and quite a bit more.

Thank you... your attention to these requests is appreciated; and I do very much like your program.

I completed Mainframe, but for some reason I never received

2 - Pandora's Pests (Mainframe)
3 - MacDust (Mainframe)

I don't know why! I'm so confused. I would have liked MacDust especially.
