If it's something like the serial not working...give it time or contact the developer.  We won't be able to do much with that.

Warbrain's right. By all means, folks, if you have any trouble with your licenses, drop us a line at support@agile.ws and we'll sort it out. We're working on a holiday schedule and with fewer resources until after the Macworld Conference & Expo next month, but we'll do our best to get you up and running in a timely manner.

1Password is without a doubt one of the best apps on the mac.  These guys work hard to make an awesome app, then go out of their way to give it away.  I purchased it for full price like a year ago, but since then they have allowed me to give it away 4 times to other people.  3 at thxgiving, and now again via the macheist giving tree.  It's a lot of fun to give people an app that you truly believe in, because you know they'll love it as much as you do.  Can't thank you enough Agile, you guys are truly in a class by yourself

It looks like you don't get the free license if you try to register the gift using an email address with which you've already registered a license. Not complaining -- I'm using the license I already have -- just an FYI.

Why do people seem to think they have the right to not be offended?

@LordZog: I can't say for sure, but I reckon that was the intention. Since 1Password is licensed to the user and not the computer, and since that means you can install it on all your computers, multiple licenses registered to the same email address are rather useless. Normally we'd probably step up and say you can give the license away if you've already got one, but that doesn't seem applicable in the case of the MH Giving Tree, which is meant for one person: the registered user.

I hope that helps clear things up.

Sweet. I'm so accustomed to the Windows way of having things as restrictively-licensed as possible that it hadn't this occurred to me. (Or maybe I did know it and forgot. I suffer from Somtzimers, so I'm often pleasantly surprised by things I may have known once. Or more than once. big_smile)

Understood and agreed, hence the "not complaining". I just thought it worth noting in case I wasn't the only one who got notified when I tried to register. Your explanation of why makes perfect sense.

Thanks, Gita.

Just to reiterate, you had a copy for all your computers with your very first license, A-I, as 1P is registered to you, not your computer. smile

Well, that answered my question. I have a friend who's comp "blew up" and I'm trying to steer toward a Mac. Was wondering if I could "gift" it as an incentive... oh well.. maybe there will be a deal later on.

I have a question.  What happens if your computer is stolen or you are away from your computer for a long time?  Is there no way to disable 1password from another computer so that all your information is not compromised?

In fact a browser without the 1P button is quite annoying to use.

1Password rocks, Agile Team rules. smile

@justG: off-topic, maybe just for your records, but I would like to see iCab supported by 1Password. It's the only browser without the 1P functionality that I still use.

Shouldn't it be noted somewhere by MacHeist that the license of 1Password they're giving away today is promotional and NOT upgradable. Seems it's often these little pieces of missing info that lead to confusion and upset. It doesn't mean it's not a nice gesture, just nice to know the full facts about what your actually getting so no false assumptions are made.
I echo the praise for this great app AND their support.

There is no way to disable 1Password from another computer, but your data is protected by your master password. We strongly recommend that this password (a) be different from your OS X user account password and (b) isn't stored in your login keychain (a convenient option offered by the application). These preventive measures will ensure that a thief has no access to your data even if s/he is able to get into your OS X user account.

I did know that. just another reason you guys rock smile

the other two Macs in the house are primarily used by other family members. Parents on the G5 and younger brother on the G4. So the have their own copies for their various accounts. and I prefer to keep my work machine as empty I can when it comes to my personal info. But use 1Password for the various accounts I use for work smile

I am sure this is just a coincidence.

Clicking on the registration link should register the 1Password license automatically. You need 1Password application installed and running before clicking the registration link.

Just a quick note to everyone that we published version 2.9.7:
http://agilewebsolutions.com/versions

It is a free upgrade.

Version 2.9.7 makes Agile Keychain the default data format. The new data format makes it very easy to keep all your Macs in sync.

Okay, so the free Macheist version isn't an upgradable license.  I found that I really like 1Passwd.  With an eye toward getting a full version of 3.0, should I take advantage of the 40% off deal going on right now and buy a real license for 2.x or should I wait and purchase a full 3.0 license?  I know that exact upgrade pricing, etc. for 3.0 may not be known, but historically what would be the intelligent thing to do?

I received an email inviting me to get the 1Password application. I've had a hell of a time just getting back into MacHeist. I've lost the email, and I still would like to obtain a free copy of the app. Is it still possible? What do I need to do at this point?

You can obviously log into MacHeist, since you've managed to post, so we'll skip right to the next step:

Go here: http://givingtree.macheist.com/

Click on the 1password icon

Click "get my app!"

This redirects you to the Agile Web Solutions site, where you are prompted to enter your name and email address. Do so, and then click "Create License"

You'll be emailed your license.

Hey Gita,

I'm going to post this in a couple of places, but one thing that would be helpful is the Wallet Items menu -- when you add a software license, at the bottom of the page, there's a spot to insert a purchase date. However, you can only tab between the open day and year boxes. Tabbing doesn't "land" on the month entry, which requires you to actually go back and click on the month to select your month.

Like I said, just a minor issue, but as I'm trying to update all my serials, it's becoming a smidge frustrating. Thanks!

Wow!  This program found its way to the core of my daily use.  I have countless web2.0 subscriptions as I'll try anything, and I'm tired of using the same old username & password.  (Now with 1Password, I hope my wife doesn't find out I have multiple "identities"!)  I live in the cloud as I use four different Macs on a daily basis and manage another 150 or so; most everything important is online as I never know where I'll need access next.  I'm ready to spread my 1Password settings across multiple Macs (thanks for the URL from this blog) and also to integrate my iPhone into the mix.  Amazing how much time I'll save!

Hello, great work guys.

I am wondering if there is a convenient way to use 1password on public computers - say I use the generate tool to generate random passwords for me and I need to log into some forum on a public computer. How will I ever remember the password it generated?

So don't use a random password for things you will use on public computers. Use a memorable one.

Wow. MacHeist 4. I can't believe it's actually happening.
Unfortunately, it looks like I'm sitting this one out because of aggressive version requirements. It's been real.
