I'm betting on today or tomorrow. Maybe Monday.
Get your work done. I think today (01-02-09) is the day.
I've got that feeling too..... I'm not sure if it's always been like it but when I refresh the MH page now you can see the number pad behind the locked panel.
BTW. You're getting pretty close to that 1000th post there MJ ![]()
Mark.
6th February 2009 MacHesit III Begins... MacHeist IV? 15th September 2012! IT's HERE!!! ![]()
Of course, "01-02-09" is february 1st. 2009 in all of Europe (except sweden, where it's february 9th. 2001
)
And since today is nearing an end, february 1st. is looking more and more plausible ![]()

Actually, from the viewpoint of a computer scientist (i.e. my viewpoint), the only date format that really makes sense is the swedish one (YYYY-MM-DD). It's perfectly understandable, unabigious and sorts perfectly in any database or flat-file.

I agree! That's how I sort and batch name my digital photos -- (YYYY-MM-DD).

Same here...
Any other way would be making a mess...

I think the sorting argument is pretty much the winner. It's simpler to sort, and it's logical to read. Let's start a petition.
When reading something I prefer mm/dd/yyyy. When sorting something, I prefer yyyy/mm/dd.

ISO 8601, baby: the only way to fly. Descending order of magnitude makes it unambiguous and easily sortable.
Why do people seem to think they have the right to not be offended?
*COUGH*IMPERIALvsMETRIC*COUGH*
Except for a couple of backwards holdouts, hasn't most of the world standardised on the metric system?

Why do people seem to think they have the right to not be offended?
god i wish we'd go metric here in the states, imperial is illogical. we seemed to have started slowly working towards that sticking it in in some areas, but it's never gonna change we're all too lazy to swap over.

Thanks for my daily minutiae correction. ![]()
I've standardized on yyyy/mm/dd. Even in reading, I've gotten used to it. I'm old enough that I still have to calculate metric distances and weights. But at least the calcs keep me thinking. ;-)

Everything is crazy in Sweeden ![]()
mmm... Extra chewy
It's got to be January 7th because that's my birthday! (as I'm sure they know)
2009-01-07, that's got to be it. Congratulations! ![]()

Not everything, but a lot of things are.

Are they doing Macworld like last year? That had a direct influence on start date.

I think it's gonna be really soon...
A few minutes ago, instead of this -

I saw a keypad.
I rushed to the "Briefings" page without thinking about it, and it was sealed up again. So, I missed the opportunity to get a screenshot, but yeah, it was a keypad for a minute.
If you have a slow connection, you will always see the keypad before the panel and lock loads.
Really? =\
I don't have a slow connection, but maybe it just took a while to load.
That's a downer.
My guess would be the MacWorld start date as well, maybe even a day before. Probably generate the most buzz.

Actually, although your "to the home" link may be fast, the connection in general may be slow (depending on network congestion and the slowest link en route).
The site itself may even be congested/overloaded, making the connection (not the link) slow ![]()
Connection = point to point communication, f.ex. a browser on a client talking to a webserver
Link = the physical carrier

I for one am getting bored. Not saying anyone is at fault, but there's only so much waiting you can do.
You can come in and make friends like a lot of the rest of us have. We have a great time socializing year round.
I ended up spending hundreds more on Christmas presents than I expected.
But we knew this was coming, so it was easy to put back the extra $$ weeks ago ![]()
Unless MacHeist ever respond to my offer of my small app as a bonus item, but neither MacHeist nor MacUpdate ever bothered to respond. Never mind!
Are you serious??? Um, yeah, there was something called The Giving Tree. Maybe you heard of it. MacHeist gave out a LOT of not-so-small bonus items.
You've just read my signature
I'm still guessing 1/5
For some reason I'm having a hard time with that date with MacWorld. I'm betting on 1/16 because I have this weird feeling the Directorates are going to be busy during Macworld and need some time to come off of it??? Just a hunch. My 2¢.
Much as I hate to say it, I kinda agree. During MacWorld last year they were so incredibly busy I can't imagine them running heists too. Unfortunately...
I'm wondering what the advertising at MacWorld will be based on, though...

I suppose one ought to give more credit to the directorate. It's not like they're going to be creating the heists on day 1 (and frantically peck on their keyboards till it ends). They would definitely have *some* work to do during the heists, but most of it should be done by now (leaving only some surprises to be handled).
I'd guess that the heists are already prepared and ready, just waiting for the master cron job to flick a switch to say "It's on, people!" ![]()

If that's the case we may not see anything until next week since MacWorld runs Monday, January 5 to Friday, January 9th.

I guess the MacWorld and the MacZot bundle ending today may be two good reasons to get started.
I'm going to say a Tuesday or Wednesday start.
