Let me just say I am happy I got it for free.
That is about the most hhmmpff game I have ever tried... Sorry!
Almost 2009 - and this would not even be fun or good look 9 years ago.

Oh well it was free, but I don't really see the point of including it?

If you missed out on Lugaru, there was a free offer for Lugaru from Wolfire Software - all you had to do was be a member of the fan page for Lugaru's sequel, Overgrowth. I think you can still grab it as the serial numbers were supposed to be sent out today (i.e. Christmas Day).

Just try it?

There's a hundred videos about it on wegame.com if you just want to see some gameplay.

Oh I did try it - played for an hour to see if there would be some variation..

I just took a look at the level 6 video, besides the snow it was 100% the same as the beginning of the game.

- Seamless boring landscape with a few low poly props.
- Same characters
- Same movements

I guess it's a matter of taste then.. But thanks for trying.

There's a couple of fan campaigns to play if you're done with the normal one:
Temple Campaign: http://www.wolfiles.com/Temple.zip
Empire Campaign: http://static.wolfire.com/legacy/LugaruEmpire.zip

It seems as if Lugaru forced my keyboard layout to change to US keyboard! mad

I discovered that when I tried to write the "-"s in my license key.
And there was no way I could change that. I had no access to my menu or the rest of my Mac as long as this program was running.

And the license was "invalid", of course. I gave up. sad

On the US Keyboard "-" is two keys left of Backspace/Delete (ie Delete, =, -)
Try pressing that key, it might work.

It's worth noting that this game was all made single-handedly by a high school student back in 2002. That's quite a remarkable feat for someone that young, given that he created a pretty decent cross platform 3D graphics and physics engine from the ground up.

If you're wanting something on the level of a Bungie/EA game then your expectations are way out of whack.

Yes, I know where the "-" is  on the US keyboard, but it did not help me.

Another thing that anoyed me was that I could not copy and paste the number, but I had to write it down on a piece of paper and type it.

I'll contact the dev team and let out some air. Thanks wink

Hit me up on AIM: osxii or on our website if you have any trouble (or just respond directly to the email you received).  We can respond much faster that way than by checking the MacHeist forums. smile

We want to help and are happy to hear your thoughts, complaints, or anything.  I'll happily personally help you get better at the game, which can get really hard once you hit the wolves.

The last thing we want is for you guys to keep problems to yourselves and get sad.

Ahh, I got to Alpha Wolf, but I can beat him. Here's a tip on defeating all of the other wolves: try the leg pump. Reversals are harder to perform on wolves, and they just kick you if you duck too early, which happens half the time. The game gets better once you practice a little, and personally I can't wait for Overgrowth.

I'm new to the MacHeist scene and apparently slow on the downloads too.  I finally got around to collecting my presents tonight.  I should have gotten a referral gift of Lugaru (it is under the tree) but the developer link says the promo is over.

"Alternatively, if you know someone who participated in the free Lugaru promotion, you may ask them for their unique free Lugaru referral URL."

If anyone has the URL, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Lots of fun but I think the only way to succeed against the wolves is to reverse every attack and not attack yourself - they are very tough! I can't seem to sneak up on them I think they smell you!

Cant wait for overgrowth! I wonder if any of the wolves survived! Sure the story was not that great, but the concept was nice.

Tip on defeating wolves : I like to keep jump flipping and hoping I will land near one, then hit, jump, repeat...

Its slightly long but it works.

after playing this a couple of times, I did get app zapper out.

really fun, not playable too many times.

Working out eventually that the only way to defeat them all is basically to take on 1 enemy at a time and keep using the reversal on them, they always use it on you when you attack so it's not worth attacking - just reversing.

great fun for a while.
