The bigger one, on the homepage, actually looks "pixellish". Like it wasn't worked on at that size at all…

But it does look cleaner than the previous one. Wonder if it'll undergo some minor modifications.

I can't comment on the comparison with the Wal-Mart logo or I will get killed in my sleep.  I can walk to Wal-Mart Home Office from my apt.  Trust me it sucks here.  I think MacHeist can do better.

I agree it does look nice but still needs some work if anyone is willing to take on that task... It is way to much for me O.O

I'm not so fond of it....but guess I won't mind it after the heists start

It's not heisty enough.

I like it but it is very very Apple. I think maybe there's just a little too much space around it since it's just on one line now.

Do you reckon we'll get a whole new site design?

I personally love it. It fits with the whole Web 2.0 look that loads of sites are trying to get in on at the moment and I think the new look is great.

"Fits" is actually my main complaint with it. It doesn't fit the design of the rest of the site. It leaves to much empty space. It's not so bad within the forums, but on the front page, it stands out.

It's a sign of upcoming things, no doubt (I hope) like a new site. I think the site could do with an update, I always like to see the fantastic new designs that come out of MacHeist HQ.

I think that they have to either
-Redo the whole site
or
-Redo the logo so it's a square

I brought it up b/c it's new and nice(r) -- unlike the horrible new Walmart logo that I just noticed. Anyways, the kerning on the new logo here is a little tight. Other than that I think it's nice. Re a site redesign, I think that would be appropriate -- especially with the marble-ish background.

Nah... I don't care for the new logo... at least in it's current format. Not very original or interesting. However, I wonder if that will be the final logo, or whether it's just there until a new site design is launched.

I pretty much agree on this one. I don't see why they could have just used the last one only with a III instead of a II as Dermah pointed out.

This is not up to snuff considering the Directorate has access to great designers. The Kerning is too close. It almost reads MadHeist. There's hardly any padding. "MacHeist" goes border to border. Nothing over or under it -- a boring waste of space. Remove the 4 bolts and the real logo may reveal itself.

It reminds me of the black curtain at the Moscone Center before the developer's conference.

I'm sure it will be, seeing as the last logo included the 'II' for Macheist II.

And the fact that there is a thread dedicated to discussing the look of a logo that probably doesn't even hold significance, and will probably be there for a couple of weeks pretty clearly shows that everyone needs some heist-action.
