From your reports it seems that "The Source" has led us to an incomprehensible file. In order to extrapolate any intelligence from this file, enter the location of it to the mainframe (http://mainframe.macheist.com) for analysis.

In the meantime have received another two more messages from "The Source". I couldn't make heads nor tails of it, but maybe one of you mavericks can figure it out. Here's the message:

The second enigmatic message came from a different point of origin, but was flagged because of it's similarity to another post-mission report.

basic translation:

The last phrase doesn't make any sense in German.

There was a web site from one of the missions last year which was a simulation of the infamous Enigma device. It used rotors to encode letters into a coded message of formidable strength.

Now, where was the url for that? I don't remember...

EDIT: Actually, I remember that I think we were referred to this app, which is an Enigma simulator for OS X

From the terms used (cylinders/"rings", "Steckerbrett") and the German, I'd say The Source is referring to the Enigma cypher machine. The last sentence is probably supposed to mean something like "use the most accurate simulator", since not all support the steckerbrett or changing cylinder order.

Trying to find one that will decrypt the chunk of text to something sane right now.

I posted the link to the image in the mainframe and now that blurry bluish/greenish file from the swords of television shows up there, but now i'm lost.

The reference of the message spelled out in the maze is to the remote control in the photo: the sword of the television generation, i.e. move your mouse over the remote.

I got the same result. A quick look at the page source labels the div as "pieces" which means that probably each clue will lead to another piece of the problem.

Out of interest, which simulator did you use at which settings? Couldn't for the heck of it get anything sensible out of the four I tried.

I also got TFTPWORMZAPPERTHEAPPGETENIGMATXT. For reference, I used Terry Long's simulator from terrylong.org. In the preferences, I set the rotors to III, I, and I (but left the "ringstellung" on A for each, and the reflector as B. I set the wheels on the main board to M, I, and A. Then I brought up the Steckerbrett window and connected O to F, P to Q, and so on.

I'm trying to TFTP the enigma.txt file from "wormzappertheapp.com" but it's timing out. But I see others have already successfully retrieved the URL.

Actually, to clarify sharky05- it isn't the exact same image. A similar pattern, different color. Wondering if these images will eventually connect? I'm new to Heists, so still trying to puzzle out how they work.

after tftp-ing wormzappertheapp.com open the enigma.txt file and enter the link in the mainframe. You get another piece of the puzzle.

It's similar to the first, but different color and slightly different pattern.

From the looks of the mainframe output, each clue links to a piece of the puzzle, so yes, they will connect up eventually...just need the rest of the clues to fine the rest of the pieces.

Translated the above code to:

adding spaces:
  TFTP WORM ZAPPER THE APP GET ENIGMA TXT

TFTP is Trivial File Transfer Protocol, a minimal implementation of FTP that is built into OSX that is used for file transfers (no directory listing or other niceties).

The last part of the translation is in the form of a command for TFTP that would retrieve a file "ENIGMA.TXT".

I don't know what worm zapper the app is (nothing on google) so I'm wondering if it's a server name.

I fired up terminal, launched TFTP and tried getting ENIGMA.TXT by connecting to wormzappertheapp.com with no luck. Tried both wormzappertheapp.macheist.com and just macheist.com with similar results.

I'm probably missing something obvious.

Any ideas?

does anyone know anything about Secondlife...? i heard they have these things that change their shape when you use certain images... i looked it up... they are called "Sculpted Prims"

Oh bloody heck, I give up.  This is way beyond my comprehension.

If someone would only tell me what the app is, I'll go try the demo and buy it if I want it.
