It's not the first Hitchhiker's reference. The second forum entry was titled "Deep Thought," the name of the computer build to provide the answer to life, the universe, and everything (which is 42, for the uninformed).

This was the funnest one yet!  If you play an instrument it should be a breeze.  Remember how we got the clue!

"tangled up in lies" is a lyric from Jason Mraz's "You and I Both" although the rhythm of the music doesn't fit the 5 bars the puzzle wants.

Maybe a Pretenders song?  I don't know them well enough...

The tuning fork produces an A note. Playing the corresponding string (5th from the left) produces an A on the clef.

Clicking the little speaker icon in the clef produces a glass breaking sound, which seems to do nothing else.

I decrypted the weird string at ThePerplexer and all it gave me was the string "WTF are you looking for?!". Neat little distraction

Moriarty is, according to Google, a supervillain. So the inverse is a superhero?

semicolons - the inverse of moriarty would be holmes. sherlock was an incredible violinist, who frequently came up with random songs that were great, according to watson

Finally got it by listening to the music with the Javascript hack and transcribing the notes. The notes are CABBAGE, BEEF, FEEDBAG. Funny.

That makes less sense than anything I've read so far. What has an instrument got to do with any of this?
