"Why so serious?" RIP Heath Ledger
Everything worked for me on firefox except for the last part with the X to open the safe. That has to be done with safari.
Dog darnit! Thank you for this tip! I've been writing x after x after x to no avail!
The freakin' directorate needs to get off their butts and verify that their keypads work with Firefox. What shoddy work! ![]()

thanks
Wow. great walk though!! I'm hoping that by following the instructions given I will train my mind to think like you so I won't have to "cheat" for the next mission.

Thanks a LOT for this. I was stuck at the choose your bets part, and this came to the rescue. Perfect for just getting out of a hole.

I would never have got to all this by myself. Fiendishly clever, both in execution and solution. Congratulations to all involved.
I just wanted to say that I was able to complete the entire Mission on a (work) PeeCee (ick ick ick!) using Safari!!!

thank you much for the walkthrough. i am just now finding time to do the missions so i'm quite behind, oh well.
i am having difficulty getting the text to speech thing for the 2words1sound url. when i play it the speech i hear I would never have understood to read that. is there some setting i am missing that makes it hearable? i continued on anyway and the speech for "your hands are tied" came out quite clear.
also, you might want to note that it is necessary to change the font on mission 1 to courier to make the ascII picture clear.
Great walkthrough for those who have yet to finish the mission. Get on it green team if you haven't finished it yet. For whoever posts a walkthrough in the future you may want to break up the segments into different posts so the forums don't break. Also, has this made it onto a wiki anywhere?
I've always wanted to be a spy, and frankly I'm a little surprised that the CIA has never approached me. Go Green!
Thanks for the guide!

Fabulous assistance. Many thanks.
the last step took me a little while to figure out
-- go back to the "hompage" -- means goto macheist.com/ and click the activate under the number lock and the grid (to paint the gesture) will be shown
about 2words1sound.com .. you could as well select the text copy it and paste it in a text editor and you would get
"Your hands are free when you enter the code tongue-tied"
(the osx text to speech service only works for Safari)
Did everything in firefox .. even opening the vault .. worked .. to enter the gesture .. you have to click hold - draw - then release the mouse button ..
enjoyed following the walkthrough! I almost figured a few things out on my own! Yeah, the text-to-speech tool didn't make the phonetics sound right, it was almost easier reading them, once I knew what they were. And I was able to get it to all work on firefox, including the unlocking (I set up a keyboard shortcut for the Speech part.) Now I want to play with my new apps!

Great job on that guide. Like "thrills" I am just finding some time to do the missions myself.

Is it necessary to change my Mac's calendar to 1996 to complete this puzzle? I'm baffled by how to circumvent that step, and there's no way I'm changing the date (and possibly borking TimeMachine) for a $2 bonus.
Nevermind. Part of the confusion is that the walkthroughs refer to a file "1996.sc.dms". But there is no such file. It is the "1996.sc" file under the videos in the briefing section. I don't know where the "dms" extension comes from.
I am stuck at the end, drawing the "X". I draw it exactly as shown, but nothing happens then. If I click, the X gets erased and I get an error message "invalide gesture".
Does the "X" have to be drawn from a specific point or in a specific direction?
What could I have done wrong?
