Just tried out this program and it is very impressive.  It really does work great at "focusing" resources to the program at hand.

For some reason it won't open for me. I click open but it does nothing. I'm gonna reboot then try and see if it works

There was a preference window bug for me that was solved by registering. Overall, a nice app! I was actually thinking about purchasing it as it helps out with renders for Final Cut. The defocusing visual effect is a nice touch,

Remember, this isn't going to show up in your dock as a normal app. It'll show up in your menu bar. This is very similar to Freeze Frame, which we got last year. Latest and greatest, I guess!

Thank you for this. I started Blitz, somehow managed to focus on an app and lost access to the Dock, etc.

Blitz used to be called Bokeh, which was the updated version of Freeze Frame.  It's literally the latest and greatest of Freeze Frame.

This can turn out to be a really good app - I've got a lot of video material from Adobe Premier to render the next couple of weeks - if this can speed up the process I would be very happy.

Nice program. I had some troubles whatching 1080p hd films when many apps were running and I had to close some of them. Now I may just focus on the vlc and everything is ok.

Same here. It works very nicely, and it really helps speed things up.
Hell, I'll probably soon integrate it into my workflow so much that I'll switch it every time I switch active apps. It's really helpful.

Although, and I hope this is just an isolated incident, it did just cause my Mac to crash.

Basically, I tried to focus on VLC, and everything froze. After a few minutes, I could force-quit out of every application, and then restart my computer.
But, everything froze completely, wouldn't open back up, no keyboard shortcuts worked... I hope that's the only time it happens, and that it was caused by something else, because this app is spectacular otherwise.

EDIT: Well, I decided to push its limits again, and ended up with another frozen Mac.

Essentially, I had VLC as the active window, with a fullscreen movie playing on my other screen, and tried to focus on Firefox, just to see what would happen.
Apparently, what happens is a bunch of frozen applications.

This time, it seems like I can just force-quit the apps and continue on without restarting (I had to force-quit Firefox and restart it to... -- Well, look at that, it just focused on Firefox, five minutes later. And unfroze everything. That's odd.)

I used Freeze Frame from last year which was good, but Blitz does nothing for my poor Tiger box. Is this another Leopard-only app?  At least Fresh had the decency to tell me I can't run it.  This is starting to turn into a Leopard-only show, Tigers need not apply.

I just realized how much this is going to help with work, too.

I've seen applications that are just full-screen text editors that just have a black background and stuff like that to keep you on topic, but I like to have a fully-featured text application, like Pages, to work with. That being said, I am easily distracted.
With this, I can work with the rest of the applications still visible and readily available, but less enticing and distracting.
I know they're there, but they are less urgent than what I have going on right in front of me.

I was unprepared for how Freeze works. I double clicked to "open" but there was nothing to see and I couldn't get to anything. Finally discovered the little flower in the menu bar just seconds before pulling my hair out.

I used Freeze Frame in the past, and at times it was helpful.  I installed Blitz, then when I click on it to enter my license, etc. everything is grayed out.  Can't select any menu item.

I'll try rebooting, though I am loath to do so since I often keep open a dozen or more Safari windows (with a dozen or more tabs each), as well as other things I've got going on.

Anyone else experiencing an issue with all menu items in Blitz being grayed out?

What? Another MacHeist adventure is upon us? Fantastic!

Haven't had that problem.  If after you restart, I would suggest re-downloading the app, and trying again.  Its been running smooth for me, and is a pretty awesome application for Photoshop/Final Cut. Both apps from the nanoMission rock.

At first I thought Blitz has something to do with the blitzmail system our school is using @_@

I think it can be quite handy although I worry it will cause other apps that's not focused to freeze.

Make sure you don't have any spaces at the end.  The code likes to be copied with a space and carriage return at the end.

I did, then realized that when I copied and pasted the license key, I was adding some empty lines before the actual key. Deleted them and it worked fine smile

I had the same problem. When it opens there's a "Check updates on startup" that unfortunately may show up behind your windows. Dig around your windows to see if it's under them.

Can't wait to try this out with Photoshop.  I've been using so many texture layers lately that it's been choking far too often, and anything to speed it up even a tiny bit is wonderful.  Thanks MacHeist.  big_smile

THANK YOU! I thought it might be an open window and started minimizing everything. I think I got sidetracked and gave up too soon. Sure enough, that was the issue!

I am not too clear on how this works. What if I work on a huge document in PS (around 900MB) and have iTunes, Mail and stuff running as well. Does it just stop those applications to allocate the resources to PS?

If yes, that would suck because I wouldn't be able to listen to any music anymore and my mail wouldn't get picked up. If no, then what is it good for? Sorry, I am little confused.

My problem is that my menu bar is so full that in most apps I can't see the flower.
I tried sliding it down, but it wouldn't go.
It might still be useful with the global key binding, but not being able to control it easily makes it tough.
Anyone else have this problem? Workaround?
