I'm curious to know what people blog about.  Partly because I don't feel a need to blog, so I'm interested to see why so many people do it.  Also, I'm always on the lookout for interesting things to read.  I suggest you tell us:

• what's your blog about?
• what does it do for you?
• why should I (or at least someone) read it?
• what is its web address?  (optional, but encouraged)

Hey, maybe I'll start reading your blog.

Edit:  I would also encourage posts reviewing and discussing the blogs posted here.

Well... okay.  big_smile

http://blog.otherskies.net/

What's your blog about - It's an artblog.  I post my art as I finish it which, at this point, is mostly school stuff with the occasional personal piece thrown in.

What does it do for you? - Theoretically it's a marketing tool, but in practice it's mostly just so my family and friends can keep up with what I've been up to, artwise.  Plus, I get this little thrill of accomplishment when I post something on the internet.  It's kind of sad.  smile

Why should you read it? - If you like art - and my art in particular - you can see more of it, and keep up with new stuff!  If you don't, I don't know, my scintillating wit?  Reasons are rather thin on the ground, to be honest.

What is its web address - http://blog.otherskies.net/ - but I already said that once.  big_smile

• what's your blog about?
We are encouraging women to become entrepreneurs whether online or off. We blog about business stuff, social media, internet skills fun stuff and not necessarily just for women either.

• what does it do for you? I get to talk about the things I have learned in the years I have been in corporate and small business

• why should I (or at least someone) read it? If you, or someone you know is interested in going into business online then it is a good resource to consult.

I would broadcast here my two miserably un-updated blogs but I think my signature has been broadcasting those for quite awhile now to no or little effect.

Then again if I took myself away from MacHeist from time to time (other than bathroom breaks) I might be able to update them blogs.

p.s. just noticed one of the blogs isn't mentioned in my signature so never mind about that one.... sorry, sheesh!

Yes, I have noticed that many people link to their blogs in their signatures.  But I figured those people might enjoy the chance to wax a little more eloquent than one can in a signature.  At least, I figured I might enjoy their doing so.  I usually don't read people's signatures any more, anyway. smile

• what's your blog about?

It has the single funniest joke, story, piece of humorous information etc that I've come across during the month. Been running for almost 9 years, but it's hard to find new material now as most of the ones I come across are either borderline humorous, too obscene to republish or recycled. Some of these are pretty much duds too, but they were the best of the month at the time.

• what does it do for you?

Absolutely nothing.  I only keep doing it because it has been around for so long.

• why should I (or at least someone) read it?

If you want some mild amusement or are trying to track down a few jokes to use in a speech. There are some mildly offensive things but nothing overly blue, obscene or similar - however, read at your own risk. Even has an RSS feed now it's running under Wordpress.

• what is its web address?

(Edit - 9 years, not 10)

Glad it gave you a laugh - my favourites are mainly back a few years. The "Let me hold your monkey" one has always made me laugh. It's rather odd but the number of jokes seems to have dropped off markedly in the past year or two, not a great deal of humour going around at all. Which reminds me, I must put up this month's too.

While the Blog it's not the main part of my website, which is more focused on the galleries it's still a pretty big part of it, so I guess I'll post as well big_smile

what's your blog about?
It's all about what pokes into my mind every time I bother updating it, no real subject. In fact, most of the times it's just status updates on what's going on in the rest of the website.

what does it do for you?
It serves as a way to share great stuff I find out or just my opinion on different matters.
Right now it's a little empty because I've been working on facelifting the website and fixing some issues but I'll be sure to fill it up with more stuff.

why should I (or at least someone) read it?
If you are not offended by somewhat strong language it's worth a read I guess, but chances are the rest of the website is more interesting (the galleries being the most obvious ones).

what's your blog about?
It's a blog about our experience in homeschooling.  We've been a bit slow about updating it since I lost my job in December.  Not sure why, you'd think I'd have more time for it now.

what does it do for you?
It's a way to share with family and friends what we're doing as well as express our experience with homeschooling.

why should I (or at least someone) read it?
If you are interested in homeschooling, it's worth reading to get a better idea of what homeschooling is about and how it works.  If you're already a homeschooling parent, you may enjoy the stories as well as get information about the curriculum we're using and places we go on field trips.

What's your blog about?
The Graphic Mac focuses on designers using Mac OSX, Adobe Creative Suite, and the Internet, offering tips, software reviews and commentary

What does it do for you?
It's a creative outlet for me. I do it because I enjoy it. I also do it because 20+ years ago, it was a lot harder to find help and information. Designers weren't as willing to share their knowledge back then.

Why should I (or at least someone) read it?
You might learn something. You might have some knowledge to share that will help someone else. You might come across links you didn't know about. It's not completely buried in ads. I don't fill the site with stupid, useless, repetitive "list of top 10 XYZ" type of posts. You might be bored.

• what's your blog about?  My blog is primarily about my life.  A chance to write down my thoughts and musings and interesting tidbits in my field as I learn them myself-my field being biblical studies and youth ministry.  It's also a collection of pictures I took while in Israel last year around this time

• what does it do for you?  It gives me a place to practice my writing, express my thoughts to others, and keep track of the other blogs on it.  It also gives me a place to pursue metaphors  and see how they work out in the long haul. -> which is really a metaphor in itself if you think about it.

• why should I (or at least someone) read it?  Because it's fun/insightful/unique (read:  just like every other blog out there smile ).  Actually, I would go there for the pictures myself.

what's your blog about?
My Blog is a Tech blog with news and hands-on about new softwares and web apps. It's also about my personal developments (I am a software developer and web designer).

what does it do for you?
It allows me to share my views/opinions about different software/products and share my new developments on the web.

why should I (or at least someone) read it?
It provides information about great free software that can make you more productive or some utilities that can solve some of your technical problems. It also lists alternatives to existing services. For eg, Google Notebook stopped dev, so it lists a few alternatives and features that they offer. So basically if you like Tech, my blog offers something interesting everyday.

My blog is actually the backbone of my portfolio website, so it is about my work as a web and print designer with aspirations as a photographer.  I also talk about my process and various tools and tips that I have discovered via exploration and other sources that relate to design and photography.

My general goal in life is to improve the usability and aesthetic nature of things that surround me. Hopefully those reading my blog will either be compelled to hire me to assist with their brochure/identity/website, or take the provided information to improve their project on their own.  Generally, I hope that I inspire people weather or not someone elects to pay to utilize my services. Surprisingly, I have already had an inquiry via MacHeist, so my site/blog is working hard.

The people that would be interested in my blog are those who are interested in design with leanings towards web work and/or WordPress. I do have several pages of blog entries, however, I recently (ie last week) completely overhauled my site and my philosophy towards it, so hopefully things will be improving with it shortly.

Should probably get back to work.
Vote for for your favorite WordPress site designs on WP Host... hopefully it's mine.
