how to enter the serial number?
To enter the serial, click SousChef in the menu bar, and click the "Buy SousChef..." item. From there, you can enter your license key.
Death and unhappiness to all who oppose me. Cookies for everyone else!
Whenever I try to import a recipe, I highlight the ingredients, etc... When I click import only the first ingredient is being imported, however. The rest are all ignored.

License not recognized. Tried capitals, no luck.
Dont know what i did wrong but is working now. Got it licensed.
Yeah, it's not working for me either. Tried everything listed here. I figure that the licensing server is getting hammered right now, so I'll try it later on and see what happens.
App crashed on Leo 10.5.6
any idea?
Tried again at 1:18pm EDT and no luck. Still getting the yellow triangle exclamation mark.
Edit: Waited until the next day, and it registered fine.
Running 10.4.11 and getting the message that SousChef cannot be used with this os x version. System requirements state 10.4.9 minimum. What's wrong?
On the website they say you need 10.5.
Maybe they did not update their informations. Downloading the Demo gives you SousChef 1.0.3.
The MacHeist Bundle is 'exclusive' with SousChef 1.1.

I have OS X 10.4.11 It says the Sous Chef doesn't support this version of OS. How do I resolve this?
2:18pm EST - I have v1.1 and it's still failing to recognize my serial. Probably still just overloaded but it is a little frustrating...
It seems that you can't actually import the old MacGourmet databases. Which makes me rather angry, since thats one of the main reasons I bought the bundle.

While I'm well aware that this is OT, I gotta ask how you styled your OS X install like that

where are you trying to import from?
Just cutting and pasting a recipe into the box, then using the app's tools to highlight each section of the recipe, or whatever you call them. The title imports, the directions import, but the ingredients all import just the first item and ignore everything else.

SousChef supports the MacGourmet database format (.mgdatabase). We haven't yet added support for individual MacGourmet files but hope to in the future. The MacGourmet database file is usually stored in your documents folder although it may be somewhere else if you choose to modify the location when you first ran MacGourmet. If you are still unable to import your MacGourmet database, please look through our knowledge-base or contact our support team via the support section of our website.

That is the correct process, however the problem is more likely with the source of the text itself. Are you getting it from a website? If so, the url of the recipe would be useful in tracking down the reason that it isn't importing. If you're importing from a website it is sometimes useful to copy the text from the printable version of the recipe instead of their normal version (e.g. look for a "print this recipe" link and copy the text off the resulting page). If you're importing from a file, please send our support team the file, you can find more info on how to do this from the support section of our website. Thanks!

Please email our support staff directly from our website with your serial number if it still isn't working. Thanks.

In my receipt I still have, "This license temporarily failed to generate. Please be patient as we work to correct the problem. "
Any help would be great

My receipt contains my serial, but the program won't except the one I've been given.

I'm trying for the 2nd time to import my MacGourmet database (the main one, from the Documents folder) but either it's taking a huge toll on SousChef, or SousChef just freezes up because even after 5-6 mins (the first try) it still didn't respond. This time, I think I'll just let it run for a little while longer.
My MacGourmet file is 9MB in size (I think I have about 3500 recipes in there) so that's probably the cause, I was just curious if there's a theoretical limit to MGDB files and/or if anyone else has tried import a database file that large.

We haven't been able to get our hands on MG database files much larger than ~1K recipes for testing. If you want you can send our support team a copy of the database file in question and we'll use it to improve the speed of the import. We'll also be adding a progress bar in 1.1.1 just to help you keep tabs on things. You can email our support team from http://acaciatreesoftware.com/support.

Also an apostrophe in my name. Are we seriously still dealing with apostrophe errors in 2009?
Apostrophes shouldn't effect registration, however if you continue to have trouble please email our support staff from http://acaciatreesoftware.com/support and we'll make sure everything gets worked out.

Finally got it registered. I don't know why I didn't consider cutting and pasting (It didn't work on at least one registration lately...)
Looks like a great program! I like the recipe on full screen. The Morroccan chicken recipe looks good, too. Looks to be fairly authentic also. (Noticed the plug for McCormick spices -that's OK maybe the original recipe came from them)
The list of other recipes that I got from the "cloud" looked to be the ones I would expect. I had just put the ingredients "chicken, peppers " in since that is one of the most common couple ingredients I always have.
I'm happy now! Beats the googling and cleaning up all the cookies after visiting dozens of sites.

I've got another question for you. So, I attempted to import my MG database into Sous Chef and it crashes, exporting them as RTF/TXT/DOC is not bery efficient. Any way to either split the database or make souschef stop crashing?
Exporting large blocks of recipes (like by book or family member) creates a large enough RTF/TXT/DOC file that SousChef crashes as well

Import recipe not working for me. Cut and pasted the text from the printable version of the recipe here - http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/ … cipe/print - highlighted the name, description, ingredients, method etc. Program just hangs forever with the 'busy' circle. Have tried several different recipes from several different sites now and none of them work. What gives?
