Any math gurus in here? I am definitely not one, but I was tempted to calculate the first unlock, from about this time: if we could get 50 sales per minute, at $39 a bundle, there should be around $487.50 per minute to charity and would take about 205 minutes to get to 100k.
Now this whole thing could be totally wrong, but at least I tried. Math gurus try for yourself.
$39/bundle at 50 sales per min.
$1950 per min
25% of 1950 $487.50
$100k/$487.50 = 205......
So it would take 205min to get to the first locked app (from the start_ at 50 sales per minute....
lol...I sound so dumb...but someone has got to test it out.
Of course, not every sale is $39 because of bundle discounts, and I tested 50 sales per minute, since I was seeing 50, 40, 45, give or take...hoping that when everyone wakes up, sales will rise.

Soundstudio can only record from one hardware device at a time, not from applications. Soundstudio can record or edit more than two tracks. Overall these programs are similar. Wiretap can use audio units.Soundstudio has internal effects and can save in various formats. I have no idea how to save in Wiretap.
If you like an alternative Amadeus Pro does even more, Audacity is free, and Jackos X does the same as wiretap for free.
Do something healthy.

i am so happy with this one. As Chris said in the show, this is really missing in OSX and now I have something to record every audio source...... AWESOME!

I got Audio Hijack Pro from the PMC Charity Bundle last year - it'll be interesting to see how this new version of WireTap stacks up.

It's funny cause I just deleted Audio Hijack Pro from my mac. Now, I've only been using WireTap for the last couple hours, but so far I like it a lot more than AHP. I also deleted Audacity from my computer after playing around with the built in sound editor. For me, simple interfaces with easy to use cut, copy paste options in a wave editor are all I need. There are also some FX that are fun to play with, sadly, no instructions as to how to apply them effectively. You just have to mess around with them.
Thus far I am extremely impressed with the software.

This is a must have application. I already own WireTap Pro, so this is a real enhancement for my toolbox.
This made me smile. You've mentioned in the Sous Chef thread that you have no need for it and in this thread that Wire Tap Studio is a must have application. For me it’s the opposite. I have no idea what I'll do with this. Just goes to show how everyone's needs differ and how wide ranging a bundle has to be to appeal to the largest number of buyers. ![]()

Well, I can't see myself actually recording a cooking radio show but thanks for posting the link - that site's a great resource that I didn't know existed and it might help me find something else to record. ![]()

This app is so cool on so many levels. I particularly love the ability to make and export custom ringtones for my iPhone!
Great app. I heard on the live cast that they couldnt use this for "live streaming" or something to that effect (which is not true of course), basically saying it is not as useful as Audio Hijack Pro. Anyone tell me what AHP does that WTS does not do? Thanks!

Does anybody know what the enhancements are in Wiretap Studio relative to Wiretap Pro?
The biggest for me is that you can record from a single app, and not just all system sounds. So you can record iTunes and no system bonks will get recorded in along with it. Or you can record Skype in one file and iTunes in another... or stuff like that.
Also the editor is really slick.... You can also autosplit songs from silence, I don't think you could do that with Pro.

I wasn't sure that I'd have a use for this app, but the more I play with it, the more I can see myself finding uses for this. I like the thought of recording a live Internet radio stream, and upping it to my iPod for listening on the go. Not a bad app after all. ![]()

How does this compare with Adobe Soundbooth?
What's the difference between WireTap Studio and WireTap Anywhere? The website is not really all that specific.
WireTap Studio lets you record audio. It does a very good job of this, including being able to record audio that some application on your Mac produces, but that's all it does.
WireTap Anywhere, in addition to that, lets you feed back a live audio stream into other applications.
The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one. (Elbert Hubbard)
This is a very nice app.
I was recording something with it from Skype and my microphone. Does anyone know if it is possible to split the tracks and only save the Skype one? If so, how?
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I just had to change one track's volume to 0.
It has updated to version 1.09 as of today. No release notes on MacUpdate or the Ambrosia site from what I can tell.

i just updated it with the build-in update:
that's the release note:
Change List:
-- Fixed a potential crash when recording AAC audio.
-- Resuming playback when paused now correctly continues from the playback needle location instead of starting over.
-- Save name in Save As dialog is now always empty when shown.
-- File format setting and EQ settings stay disable properly during recording.
-- Fixed an issue where file names from simultaneously running sessions were not unique.
-- Fixed pause button in both the editor and the library.
-- Fixed splitting.
-- Recordings no longer stop immediately if live preview was enabled prior to starting the recording.
-- Fixed a playback issue when playing a selected region that intersects, but isn't a superset of a deleted region.

Yup!!!! I just updated as well to 1.0.9. This is unusual as you usually have to stay with the version that MacHeist gives you when you win any software. Maybe with the bundle you are allowed to upgrade because you actually paid for the software although your payment is microscopically small. Anyone know???

The bundle is different, you actually paid for it, so you get full licenses.

One of my favorite apps in the bundle! Yay! THe non destructive Live Preview feature is great. You can hear what your final product will be and change it on the fly to get an idea of quality checking. +1 to the cellphone ringtone preset under MP3 ![]()

I was about to buy Wiretap at full price, when I found out that it was part of the MacHeist bundle. There was a live broadcast that I wanted to record, and Audacity was not working in that case. I also found out that Wiretap supports scheduling, and then my world opened up. I've got about 7 new music programs recording every week now, whether I am planted at the computer at the time or not. That's great, because they are from all over the world and the times are not always convenient for me. I'm especially impressed that it can record multiple streams simultaneously, with no confusion. I've mentioned both Wiretap and MacHeist in a recent post on my experimental music blog. It's a very valuable tool, and I'm much more able to keep up with performances around the world now.
