OK Ok, I'm so not a game person, and I resisted even downloading this one until this morning. I intended to give it to one of my sons. Then I just said "What the heck" and now I'm in it. This is a really fun game and I never thought I'd say that was I glad it was in the Bundle, but I'm really glad it was in the Bundle

Thanks for stealing my time.

OK. SRSLY great game!

In 2 MacHeists this is the first game that will get a lot of play by me and my kids - which means more fighting over iMac time....

Amazing game. It's different than the normal, off-the-shelf games out there and that's what makes it great. The music is perfect too.

I don't normally like games but this one is different. The graphics are really cool (much better quality than a lot of the games I've tried) and the sound effects are great. I would never have bought this but now I have it I'm really enjoying it.

What's funny -- not only is it addicting for me, but my wife is addicted to watching me play it. She hears the music, wanders over and just watches. She is annoyed that she's getting drawn into the game. big_smile

Just thought I'd share GooFans. I can't post a link to it, as I've not been active enough, but Google it and you'll find it.

It's got a good community, and hosts GooTool, which allows you to backup your profile online and use it on other machines, resize the game and install new custom levels and such.

The World of Goo is worth 39 bucks for this old lady that only plays old fashioned games like Bridge. Of course, with the little cutesy wittle goo-balls I am also playing "bridge in a lot of ways!

I'll bet Gates and Buffet will like this also and I would pay (or donate) real money to watch them play for the first time!

I have only made it to the 2nd chapter and am PO'd that I have not figured our what I need to do next. Grrrrr. PS I do not play any kind of games on the Internet etc...until now.

I have a Bose USB speaker set, and I also get no sound when its selected at all.

I was able to find the fix for this which should help you Firewire device users too:

1. open up your world of goo app bundle on your hard drive and navigate to the Contents/Frameworks directory
2. rename the libirrklang.dylib file to _libirrklang.dylib
3. download the new irrklang here: http://www.ambiera.at/downloads/irrKlang-1.1.2c.zip
4. extract the file irrKlang-1.1.2/bin/macosx-gcc/libirrklang.dylib from the archive and put it in the Contents/Frameworks directory in the app bundle.

run the game again with that new libirrklang and see if it fixes the problem. If you want to revert to the old version, just delete that new libirrklang.dylib file from Contents/Frameworks and rename the backup from _libirrklang.dylib back to libirrklang.dylib.

Nobody noticed the lame resolution of World of Goo in fullscreen?
Here is a solution:

Right click "World of Goo" and click "Show Package Contents".
Then navigate to "Contents > Resources > game > properties".

Open the file "config.txt" and change the screen width and height into your native screen resolution.
Like this on a 20" iMac:
<param name="screen_width" value="1680"/>
<param name="screen_height" value="1050"/>

Save the file and start the game... Nice crisp fullscreen graphics.

Thanks for this! I was just looking for this info. 800x600 on a 24" screen... well, looks a lot like the 90's tongue

Does anyone know of a way of getting your license key for World of Goo? It would be nice to have access to the Windows and Linux versions as well.

If not, that's fine. It's nice enough to get it for (basically) free for Mac.

I was just about to post asking what the trick to get sound ON is, as I saw the couple of posts above. I'm using an E-Mu 0404 USB card and I don't get any sound either. Have to install some obscure libraries manually to get a game software running?

Lame.
