This looks better than Things. I just loved the tab interface. Could be a real winner although TaskPaper is working pretty well for me at the moment.

I am excited to see this unlocked.

Haven't heard of this before the bundle. The interface looks amazing. I'll have to set it up for the next couple of months of my life, and see how if it fits into my life. I've been needing something like this.

Well, I don't know. Maybe it'd be more demanding in a less relaxed setting. I work from home most of the time, I use a bug tracker to track work, and if something isn't done quick enough I can say "you shoulda set the priority higher".

I tried both Things and The Hit List for one month, and feel more comfortable to use THL. The concept behind THL seems to me more direct and more concise (the division of "project" and "area" in Things make me feel a little bit annoying). Also, I like the tab interface, and notebook and notecard style. Comparing with other GTD software, THL is easier to understand- I don't want to spend few days to figure out the logic behind one software.

TaskPaper was my previous app too. The nice thing about THL is that by being able to create lists, it feels like it combines some of the good parts from both Things and TaskPaper.

I still use TaskPaper for taking notes and stuff because the easy formatting is nice. But so far THL has been really great for my needs.

TaskPaper never did it for me, seemed like a notepad with a price tag of 30 $.
I definetely would have bought Things if it weren't for this bundle. I'm just getting into THL, and as soon as I find a keyboard shortcut to throw entries into the archive, I'll be happy.

I've decided to try out The Hit List since I bought the bundle even though I am a Things user.  I really like the user interface and am trying to use THL exclusively instead of Things, even though there is no iPhone/Touch app.  That is important to me because I love my Touch and use it to enter tasks into Things frequently and then sync to my Mac.  The fact that there is an app in the works for THL is comforting.  I do have one question for people using THL already:  How are you organising projects?  Do you create a new list in the folder "Projects" that is provided or to you just place a task in the Inbox with lots of sub-tasks.  With the exception of not having sub-projects or sub-tasks, i really liked the way that Things handled projects, with the ability to check them off at the end.

It's really up to you how to do it. You can actually have even more hierarchies since you can have sub-folders, sub-sub-tasks, etc.

I have a few 'main' projects as separate lists in the 'Projects' folder. I also have some other folders for more out of the way stuff, and even some folders and lists where I take notes and collection information, rather than strictly manage tasks.

I just started using THL two days ago and I really like it a lot. It's simple enough for even the most tech stupid (me). I can't compare it to Things or the Omni one, but then I don't own them either. By the time we get our licenses I ought to be almost organized.

Thanks so much for including this GTD app in this bundle. You just may have saved my marriage.

functionality wise this looks nice but the interface looks a bit cutesie.  mimicing paper in your interface (yellow background, lines and red margins) never really works for me but that may be configurable (and in any case isn't a deal breaker).

but generally it's a real winner and is precisely the sort of app you want in a bundle - the sort of thing many of us would like and will use but might not want to pay $50 for on its own.

i'll be even keener on it if/when the iPhone/iTouch version arrives (even assuming that will be another $15 odd).

I had Things installed for some time, but now it's gone big_smile

In my opinion The Hit List looks a lot better and works a lot smoother as well. Things is nice indeed, but I feel The Hit List got a little more in terms of functions and options.

The paper look is sooooo well done. Normally I don't really like it (for instance it's ugly in Circus Ponies Notebook) but here it just works well.

I am going to stick with this one for all my ToDo's and similar smile

Having used Things for the last month, I was hoping it would come in the MH bundle. I saw The Hit List and was disappointed. But, I figured I may as well try it.

I transfer all my data from Things into The Hit List and in about 30 minutes, I was sold. The keyboard shortcut focus is amazing and not to mention sub tasks. I thought I was happy with Things, but then this comes along!

I really do hope it gets unlocked.

Stupid question - but how is devonthink, process and THL compare/contrast?  Do they compliment each other or is there some overlap to a degree that you would use one or the other?

Thanks

DevonThink is for content.  So, put/link documents into it to get some context out of stuff.  Use it for research and archiving.

Process is for projects; it is still a checklist but you can keep a lot more info for each item attached in the lower pane.  You can use this as a GTD application if you don't want to spring for THL.  There is a fair bit of overlap here, but it's missing some task-specific features.

The Hit List is specifically for task management; GTD-style.  You can focus on certain areas easily and collect and file things you need to do.  More powerful than Process.

You'll need to try both of the latter two together to see if you really need the extra features... DevonThink is another angle altogether and you'll probably find yourself using it alongside one of the other two.

Finally found the time to check it out today and I'm totally blown away. I wish every developer would provide a keyboard integration like this.

There are some things in Things that I still lack here but it has the potential to grow to something really cool and just for the UI and handling I already prefer it over Things.

THL is by far my favourite app from the bundle and I'm absolutely sure I will use it on a daily basis. Already transfered my complete task lists from Things.

Just waiting for the unlock now :-)

If you look at the numbers its more than possible; looking at the graphs it will be unlocked in 1 day and about 6 hours and we have 2 days and 10 hours left.  And it has been stated by the directorate that there will be no extension.

I find it unfortunate that the time estimate presumes that 1 day = 8 hours. I've sent an e-mail to the developers, and hope that 1 day = 24 hours will be the default setting soon, with the 8-hour day being an option.

I just had a look at THL and must admit, it looks very interesting. Until today I've been convinced even not to try it, because I'm using already Things.

But THL has a really nice interface and is very simple to use just from beginning. I like the kind of tutorial inside the application.

Are there users, who have experiences with Things and THL? Are you using both of them for different purposes?

By the way,  there is an update available. The Order lookup site's download is not the latest version.

My first impression of THL was - don't like the page UI ; not as cool looking as Things.  Having forked out the cash for Things have been giving it a good go and in general it has been brilliant, however creating new tasks from an email took ages to sort out (ended up finding an Applescript and using it with Mail Act-On) and creating an event from an iCal calendar is not as good as I hoped.  So will give THL a really good go now it is unlocked.  Thanks MacHeist for all the software - both the stuff that was part of the Heist but also the stuff I've found out about through the forums.

I tend to try a lot of productivity apps and never really manage to stick to one.

When Process became available through MacHeist, I gave it a try but it didn't really work. I went back to iGTD that I had tried a long time ago. I wasn't super excited about THL when I saw the demo but I have tried it this morning and it's pretty cool... It looks very good! The keyboard shortcuts are well-thought.

One thing I think could be useful would be the ability to choose where to save the database. iGTD does that and that allowed me to have a synched DB between home and work with the help from Dropbox. With a coming iPhone app, I don't know how that would work out but that would be nice. (I know you can back-up and restore a DB but that's clearly not practical)

So, obviously, I can't say that I will stick to THL since I have only used it this morning but it looks promising and a lot more modern and clean than iGTD. (never tried Things, nor OmniFocus)

Thanks guys!

One suggestion I've heard is to put an alias to the THL database in Dropbox.
