Well, all that time I spent meticulously copying, pasting and formatting my license info into RTF files has been made redundant by this great app! Thanks guys!
Go Purple!
But I also want to enter all the serials from the loot and apps that I bought , how I do this ?
manually

I'd love to be able to use more keyboard shortcuts with it ("Cmd N" for a new licence, "Cmd I" and/or "Return" to see the information).
Right now, it's very mouse-based.
Also, protection of data with a password would be nice.
Otherwise, I love the fact that it supports icons. Makes me more likely to use this than AllSecure if the aforementioned features are granted ![]()

I'm sorry.... but I am already using "myliscences" which is ok... free... but it is just easier!!!
And I think that it is well... such a faf to import 90 odd liscences into "AppShelf"
Saying this... it may stay on my system.. just for the fact that it has all of the "Macheist" apps in it!!!
Is this really worth the trouble.
Just a couple of days ago I copied and pasted all info from the reciept page into Wallet (from last year's loot) together with the loot licenses. But the import feature in AppShelf was cool, though.
But I think I'll stick to Wallet.

Adding the .appshelf file from my receipt gives me this entry:
"MacHeist-Serials.appshelf
Registered to you. You paid for it nothing"
Bit of an insult really.
I thought this would import all the licenses?
Might give it this one a miss, seems we're expected to use it in demo mode. Wish it would say that in the receipt entry.

I like it very much. But I can't see the application icons :S.
It shows you the icons for the apps you have installed and run as far as I can see. I have some missing, as I haven't run them (The Hit List for example).
The Optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds, the Pessimist fears this is true.
The application is ok, but LicenseKeeper is still better. For instance, LicenseKeeper will automatically scan emails, and attaching documents is easier. Good to see some competition though.

You messed up. Try selecting 'Import' and then opening the .appshelf file. That should do it.

This doesn't seem to be the case. I am missing icons for apps I have installed and run. Must be something else...

There is no "Import" in my copy of AppShelf!!
Because I was running the version I downloaded from their site. Seems that there is a special MacHeist only version...
For those missing icons: The app name is incorrect in AppShelf, for example, Delicious Library is actually "Delicious Library 2". There doesn't seem to be any way to edit the name though; I had to add it again and C/P everything.
I can't figure out how to add apps that I don't have installed...
It's me!

you are probably running an outdated version, download the version from the bundle (in your receipt) and use that one.

That was sort of implied in my post...
Very handy little app for the macheist for sure.

To those wanting backup, see the FAQ at the product site (sorry, can't paste links, but here is what it says):
Appshelf stores your data in /Users/[you]/Library/Application Support/AppShelf/ folder. To backup your data or to copy your data to another mac just copy this folder and you are done. Quit Appshelf before you copy the folder.
So, just the usual, unfortunately not integrated and not exportable in other formats. Dumping the sqlite database to text is easy enough though for an infrequent task.
I just bought License Keeper with the discount code they had floating around here. Darn! Appshelf looks like a decent app. Anyone have experience with License Keeper vs. Appshelf?
there's a thread on that

Hmm and what is exactly the function of the 'Launch' button?
Surprisingly, it launches the application you have selected.
For those missing icons: The app name is incorrect in AppShelf, for example, Delicious Library is actually "Delicious Library 2". There doesn't seem to be any way to edit the name though; I had to add it again and C/P everything..
Yeah. I discovered this when I tried to use the launch button in AppShelf, and it ran an earlier demo version of the original Delicious Library I still had on my Mac, which immediately prompted me to enter a license.

I know this seems a silly question, but there's also a serial number (or should be) for AppShelf. Did you also enter that (or are you not seeing it)?
Signatures confuse me. I can never work out what to put there.
I see AppShelf and it's serial in my Bundle Receipt, but I can't download it. Firefox asks to save the file but the download never starts. After a while I get the following timeout message:
"AppShelf-1.2mh.dmg.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator."
Can anyone help me?
Most importantly, why is the icon for AppShelf a fishbowl ?
An excellent question!

No export ? so this software is useless...
Yeah does seem a bit of a dumb omission, but this is from their faq:
Appshelf stores your data in /Users/[you]/Library/Application Support/AppShelf/ folder. To backup your data or to copy your data to another mac just copy this folder and you are done.
