Now that Boinx has been unlocked - the provided serial number isn't working.  I've copied and pasted numerous times to no avail.  It states that it's the wrong license code.

I installed my license, updated the software, had the app quit repeatedly, re-downloaded a second time, tried to re-install the license, and am told it is a duplicate license. What do I do?

Haven't seen too much detail on quantity/type/cabling issues for the physical cameras that feed into BoinxTV, though I did catch a bit of a Boinx guy on live.twit.tv saying you could hook 2 firewire cameras to a single firewire port (how?), and that some (all?) Canons had a video lag on what they feed to firewire.

I'm getting a new intel mac mini with 5 USB ports (on 4 internal bus per tech article) and one firewire 800.  I have several firewire cameras that I've been hooking up with firewire 400 cables on my old computer: Canon HV20, Canon ZR65, old Sony Handicam.

I have a used logitech quickcam with no driver disk: M/N:V-UF6, P/N:86151-0000, S/N: LZA04957012.

I've got a Griffin iMic (old silver disk style) USB audio in/out interface.

What's the most of the above firewire cameras I can hook up to BoinxTV, and what adaptor(s) will I need to go from a single firewire 800 to x number of small firewire plugs on these cameras?

If I have to go to USB cams for the 2nd or 3rd cam, are there any cams you recommend?

@ChickenStudios: The latest beta from http://boinx.com/boinxtv/beta/ hast the Twitter issue fixed.

@dduncan: I said on TWIT that you can hook up up to2 cams to one firewire BUS. One bus may have multiple ports. So if you only have one Port you can only hook up one camera. There are Firewire 800 to 4pin Cables that you can get e.g. at the Apple Store.
The Problem with all the USB cams is that they have autofocus, auto white balance and auto exposure, so they are not suitable for chroma keying. If you don't plan on chroma keying I'd suggest a Logitech Quickcam Pro

I understand the app is now unlocked and I have a license number, received from MacHeist.
When I paste the license into the Install License pane I get this message:

Only the characters 'A' to 'F' and '0' to '9' are allowed at this position.

But this is the number that MacHeist provided.
The result is that I can't go any further, so I am working on a temporary demo license.
Please help me MacHeist.

@jazzyguy: We only say it won't run very good, but if you use only one camera and a resolution below 640x480 it should work okay.

I've created a placer with a Screen Source to record the display from the other side of a Skype Video session.

When I record, I get the video but not the audio.  How do I make it record off the system audio?  Shouldn't a Screen Source automatically grab the system audio?

@heichmann: No a screen source only grabs the video. With tools like Soundflower or Wiretap Anywhere ou can pipe system audio from one application to another. So all you have to to e.g. with Soundflower is set soundflower 2ch as the output device in Skype and create an audio source with soundflower 2ch as the input. Done.

Disregard that last question.  Soundflower's website says how to do it.

Feature request:  Being able to get a screen source and system audio together inside BoinxTV without having to jury-rig a bunch of other stuff would be a nice enhancement for 1.3.

I was hoping I could use Boinx as a screencast app, but it now seems as if it's a better value to just pay the #29 for iShowU.

I am trying to connect three cameras using Video Switcher. I am able to connect two properly. When I connect the third is says it is connected and available but I am not getting an image. When I use the iSight camera as the third camera it works great. But if I connect the third camera through the firewire port it does not work.

My setup: two cameras through a firewire hub, third camera straight to 2nd firewire port.  ( It will connect two in any configuration, one using the first port and one through the hub, or two through the hub)

Can you please help

@heichman: True wink Will take some time.

@Luigis: One Firewire Bus can only handle the images of a certain amount of cameras. So you see them all but get no image. A hub only replicates the ports but not the buses. So you'd need an extension card.

@jazzyguy: It's not a question of it not working, but rather wether it'll work well enough to be usable. Boinx sets a "minimum" as the platform they support, since any lower than the minimum may yield in unforeseen side-effects...

@leontyree: Good going pal, the answers to licensing questions have been posted repeatedly in this forum by schlingel, the last post - the last one before your post. You couldn't have missed it, even if you intended to ! Other questions (like questions about the receipt) should be directed to support@macheist.com, and will be answered in due time which does not imply five minutes after you sent your question!.

@mrglsmrc: It runs! The older MacMinis don't have enough graphics power to handle BoinxTV well. After all, the newer MacMini is a little better due to the improved graphics card. So it will handle BoinxTV but don't expect too much of it. BoinxTV relies almost entirely on the graphics card and we recommend at least a MacBook pro.
The "junior version" of BoinxTV is opening BoinxTV, (reading the alert carefully) and use a resolution of 640x480 or lower and only one camera. Should work.
