It seems like the nanoBundle was a half-hearted attempt to tide us over, and the community seems to be slowing dramatically. The Directorate is busy with their individual projects, and I have a feeling that the long awaited MH4 might never actually happen. Thoughts?

I doubt that its over,  probably more like its just getting harder and more work to get the bundle ready.

I find it hard to imagine Macheist has run its course, its the biggest bundle on the net and whilst there are still developers who want to participate I very much doubt the directorate would just walk away from all that $$$

There are quite a few copycats popping up nowadays so there is definitely still a market for the Bundles,  we just need to see decent bundles rather than poor imitations

Burnout is more likely the main contributing factor to the longer break. MH has improved each year, and has required more production and planning overhead each year, so it's more stressful each year, and they need more of a break each year.

Personally, after banging my head against one wall for several months, I think I'd like to go bang it on another one for a while. You know, for a little variety...

It's rather effective. It's taking everything in me to not fix the word "tide" and remove the misplaced commas

I was actually stuck on the missing hyphen in "half-hearted". But now I'm stuck on the lowercase 'B' in nanoBundle. Now I know how MacWorld must feel.

I'll give you the half-hearted (or halfhearted), and your strangely capitalized nanoBundle, but what is wrong with "tide?" My commas are just fine.

Oh, no! It's spreading! We're all trolls!!!

But seriously, MacHeist 4 is taking forever. MacHeist 3 started 13 months ago. I guess it's gonna be a late start this year. Can anyone from the Directorate make a comment on this, or is it under the usual veil of secrecy MacHeist loves?

This is a triumph...

I'll give you the half-hearted (or halfhearted), and your strangely capitalized nanoBundle, but what is wrong with "tide?" My commas are just fine.

It was an absolutely flawless use of commas (both grammatically, and stylistically, in my opinion). I must also say that I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what was wrong with the use of the word 'tide.'  I suppose that if one were not familiar with the expression, "tide (someone) over" ("help someone through a difficult period"), and if one based one's judgment solely upon the definition of the word itself, "tide" might not make much sense there.

But more importantly, I appreciated awakebyjava's comments because I felt they were relevant (and timely); the fact is that I came to this forum with the same specific topic in mind.  However, there seems (not surprisingly) to be a dearth of on-topic responses in this thread. Does anybody have any thoughts (or information (or misinformation)) on when we might be treated to another heist?

(By the way, feel free to critique my grammar and writing style wink (such as my (arguably) excessive use of parentheticals.) I think I appreciate good writing as much as anyone else here.)

The question was extremely relevant in my opinion, regardless of improper grammer. Wold you like to actually answer the question posed instead of simply being obnoxious and bashing anyone who questions your company. Your sole obligation is to satisfy your consumers, not to ignore the tough questions and find some childish way to discredit them. Id also really like to know whats taking so long. If you guys ned more time to put everything together i really don't mind-it would just be nice to know some definitive information. And Mia you don't have to be a conceited jerk just cause Johnred is. I guess you missed that I was just calling out yet another one of awakebyjava's lame, passive aggressive trolling attempts. So if you haven't been paying attention to his other forum posts like this one, my response may have come off as me being "obnoxious" or a "conceited jerk", as you put it.

Given that we just recently finished a nanoBundle event, the question, "Is MacHeist dead?" is a pretty ridiculous one and in no way a "tough question".

If my "sole obligation is to satisfy your consumers", I'd probably put a bullet in my head. My sole obligation is to enjoy my life and I live it that way. That's not to say for a second that I don't try making people happy, and enjoy doing so, but in no way is it any "obligation" of mine. The old adage, "the customer is always right" is complete bullshit from my point of view.

Take all of this as me continuing to being the obnoxious, conceited jerk you accused me of... or realize that I'm just being honest. When you're being an asshole to someone who's serving you but they're still polite to you, realize that they're doing so only because they don't want to lose their job and if that wasn't a factor, they'd likely tell you to go fuck yourself.

The way you wrote your response makes it seem like your life depends on MacHeist 4 happening ASAP. I could make a giant list of things you could be doing instead of obsessing over the start date of MH4 but I'll just limit it to one... your crabby posts here would have much more weight if you didn't post them with a Barney avatar. Something with angry eyes would be a lot more effective, IMO.

Note to the powers that be:

I thought I had told you that my computer was dying a slow death and had to take it into the shop under Applecare, but I guess that message didn't make it to you like I thought it had.  You see, I figured that by doing so, it might speed up the Macheist Bundle 4 coming out as per Murphy's law that when I don't have a computer, then it would be time to start and probably end while the system was in the shop.

Well, I am happy to report that my system is back running robust and strong so let the games begin!  smile

When stuff like this happens, I think the eventual end of MacHeist is assured. Maybe not for MH4, but at some point the relevancy of desktop software is going to end. I was really just wondering if the forward thinking directorate was already making the move away from desktop software in MH as they have in their own software development. I am a fan of hyperbole though, so I stand behind my thread title.

OK I guess I should know this, since I bought an eMac about 4 months before the USB 2.0 version came out.  Let me alter my statement to clarify:
