The first mockup for MacHeist. It's come along far since then, but a lot of its original elements have remained. smile

Ah, I do see the improvement. It is amazing how fast you guys put together this entire website! I was talking to Adam about it big_smile.

Adam's work is the bomb... I love all the miniscule details like giving the post backgrounds a very light texture of expensive manuscript paper. Just awesome!

The only thing I liked better about the initial mock-up is the gold light emanating from the vault. Oh, well.

I luv it! Great color combination, great spacing. To the details. I'll be even more pleased if the marble background is static.

I like the marble background, and the textured "paper" look.
I didn't like the little corner things at first, but I think they're find now.

The marble is rather cool, isn't it.

Sweet.

The marble is certainly nice. It was likely bought from a stock art provider, but Adam has this great abilitiy of implementing other images with his own designs and making it look fabulous big_smile

This site looks really nice, but for some reason I still like the design of MDA better... Relaxing colours and all. But of course this one fits the theme better, and yes, the header is absolutely amazing.

And oh yeah first post!

I really like the design. It is elegant and intriguing. The colors might be a little dull but that adds to the effect. My favorite touch is the detailing in the corners.

It was love at first site...heh....

I am impressed with the whole thing. Very pleasing to the eye. MacHeist deserves a lot of attention.

Excellent design, the forums really blend nicely. On another note, I have a sneaking suspicion about where the safe image itself came from. smile

The safe image was created by 3D artist Krist Pargter. And I got a nice insider on it. Be anticipating a bit more than static image wink

The real reason why I went green is before I even joined the MacHeist team, I told them I'll design anything but aqua blue color.   I was getting fed up with blue because it's getting really tiring to see every Mac sites in aqua blue.  Time for something different.  This site may not be 0% blue in its final form but at least we're sort of in retro year, not OS X year smile

I think that's great, you were able to make a great looking site, without falling back on the same rounded corners, shadows, reflections, and aqua-blue that are so much a part of the fad-ish style right now.

I think it would be funny if the time bar today had a unlit match being the penultimate eve and tomorrow a lit match. Since when the contest starts I assume the string will be lit.

adam betts always creates these wild websites that try to emulate some real things smile

marble background is really ugly, but then again i don't like marble.. except for marbles.  i like marbles smile

dynamite looks fake compared to the safe, which is really well copied from the picture yikes

however, lots of wasted space, and no uniqueness; typical of mac sites.

Personally I like it alot. Has that Bankish feel. Visually pleasing but some parts are cheesy. Just like most banks. I think you nailed it.

hm. seems like i am the only one who is not so impressed by the design.

sure, coding is excellent (great forum implementation) but the design itself doesn't do it for me. reminds me too much of the old spymac.com.. and the logo.. well. no comment.

but hey, if i am the only one, congratulations smile

There's one thing that bugs me. When you do a quick reply, the submit button is on the right of the preview button, but when you click post reply, it's the other way round. Just a little UI error, but it's really annoying.

Love the design, don't get me wrong. However, I do find threads in the forum a little hard to read. Maybe a little too close together? Either that or this 21" monitor just isnt big enough anymore...
