I'm sure many of you will be aware of the up and coming release of the Mac App Store for OSX on the 6 of January. I can't help but think Mac Heist will be taking some part in the release, and I'd like to hear what some of you think! First off, the directorate has been very reluctant in disclosing even an approximate date, which would be consistent with my idea, as any date given close to that of the App Store release would surely start ringing alarm bells with people. Secondly Mac Heist is by far the most established Mac Bundle distributor on the net and I don't think it would be at all far fetch for Mac Heist to have a feature page, similar to those found on the iPhone app store, which could be access by a code, from missions, can't forget the good old missions. Lastly it would also seem to be the ultimate platform for Mac Heist to sell there bundle and attract interest from developers. Even if I'm wrong about what ultimately happens with the Heist, the surely must have tried?

I dont think Macheist will have a "feature page". I see it as very unlikely that Apple would allow it. Plus it would mean Macheist would have to give 30% straight to Apple. Whether MacHeist 4 will start around they time of the mac app store I do not know, but I dont think it will have anything to do with the mac app store.

We have been waiting for MacHeist 4 for nearly 2 years, while the app store was just announced a few months ago, I doubt they have anything to do with each other.  Further, Apple has stated that discounts will not be possible through the app store.

They mean that developers won't be able to offer special discount codes that translate into a discount on their app. Many developers using their own e-commerce store are able to offer temporary discount codes to users. This can be used for promotions or even 100% discount.

I suppose if discounts are a definite no go for App Store, that surly says it. There are a few problems with the idea but I'm still not total convinced, it still seems reasonable to me. I suppose since Mac Heist has been very consistent for many years, or at least predictable, I can't help but search for reasons, just trying to think outside the box, as I think it's gonna be quite different to previous years. Open to any ideas.

Nah it's been two years, MacHeist isn't going to happen.
I only come here because the forums are funny sometimes, and I get to hear of good software deals.

I am tending to agree.  I think the bundle idea may have burned itself out, especially with MH's insistence on unique un-previously-bundled apps.  There's almost nothing left.
