As an aside, anybody notice this story come up on the twitter stream?: http://www.razorianfly.com/2011/05/19/macheist-returns/

Supposedly there's an iOS app in the works...

If you were to try to merge the rumors we're seeing here, allow me to make a massive speculation:

I wonder if there is a collaboration in place with Apple that makes use of some new App Store or MobileMe features.  Imagine if the purchase price of the new MacHeist came in the form of an App Store app priced at a base price (like $39).  You buy the app, and play the games within the app to unlock additional apps or licenses through the games in the app, which you might then download through the in-app "upgrade" or "purchase" feature of the MacHeist app.

This is likely WAAAAAY off, of course, but it is something that takes many of the rumors at face value.

For those who are sad that much of this requires an iDevice, you won't be happy with this -->

h tt p: // www . razorianfly. com /2011/05/ 19/mach eist-returns/
-- I can't post links, so just put that together--

I'm excited as long as it doesn't require physically going places, not because I am lazy, but I have an iPod Touch not an iPhone.

edit--> Just look at the post a couple up, the links in that one.

OMG, it's Textmate 2.

The dimensions don't match up though. The "blueprint" shows two grid squares being 1m in length, which makes the secret room 5m wide, and according to what I found online, the 5th Avenue Store is 9.75m wide. It's still possible I guess, but seems less likely...

Dimensions of the building in the map is 5m x 6.75m (2 squares = 1m in the bottom left corner)

Anybody analyzed the dimensions?

Just ask about MacHeist. I'm sure they've heard of it. Ask them if there's a clue somewhere in the store. If they say no, explain the map to them and how it has their store's address on it.

Has anyone looked at the feed about the redacted portion of that article that's been linked to a few times? Check-out the other feeds. It appears the Apple Store on the map is representative of the App Store. Mac Heist's request to redact that portion of the article seems to confirm this rumor.

Probably nothing of note....

But when you add the page to your home icons, it adds back the confidential image under the floor-plan.  Probably just a glitch, but worth noting anyway.  I haven't had this much fun since the cloudmakers.

Two comments, as a MacHeist veteran:

1.The likelihood of Apple being a part of this would be astonishingly unlikely. There's too much controversy (albeit, unfounded) surrounding MH for Apple to "officially" endorse it. Apple plays it too safe when it comes to affiliations.

2. The heist NEVER begins on the night it's announced. It can even take up to a week for the actual launch. They need time to build buzz and make sure the largest amount of people participate. So keep a close eye on the front page, but don't bother hitting reload every 30 seconds. It will be a while before this kicks off.

Of course, I could be wrong on both counts. MH is all about surprises, but my money is on those two things being true.

Diane, this case gives me a strange feeling... this is one of Cole's blue rose cases.

That;s because you add the home page, the original code, not the one you did something. But that's a shoot

They need buzz for sure, but one week? I don't trust that, maybe three days...maximum four. All we can do now is research a little of Apple World and rumors.

I'm sorry to tell you, but when the Mainframe decoding was taking place in MH2, (which is what actually kicked off the heist) it lasted 30 days...

But by all means- speculate and research away! That's half the fun!

Maybe it's an idea to call one number in the building and ask what's on the 4th floor?  I've tried to figure that out via google but it only gives you a presumably dead company called "Ventura Vanilla" selling perfumes. So I guess there is something else now on that floor.

we have confirmed this was a mistake on OPs part.  the steps they used simply created a test phrase, which was misinterpreted by OP as being a clue.  This is not re-creatable using any other pigpen cypher program.

Level 4G is a bit of a clue, no?

No building I've been in has levels with both letters and numbers, and 4G typically refers to the mobile data standard. Mixed with the fact that you can only reveal the map on an iOS device might lead one to assume this has something to do with the next iPhone's release.

If so it means we may be waiting a while...

The chances of them working with apple is highly unlikely.  apple likes complete control of there events and are very secretive.  Not saying there's not signs that point the software bundle will include iOS and mac apps, but chances it's "directly" related to apple promotions would be a huge step away from the norm.
