The heist kicks off with a familiar friend, Sophia, who is in yet another familiar predicament, with agents closing in on her.  She needs your help to get inside a vault, before the enemy agents track her down.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zp-bCfTkgo

The MacHeist App is a multi-stage puzzle app for IOS devices.  Once you have launched the app you are greeted by a phone call from Sophia instructing you that you must solve the puzzle in order to crack the safe and gain access.  The puzzles get progressively more difficult but they can be completed in any order you choose; though you do need to pass each difficulty level to gain access to subsequently more difficult puzzles.

- ]To pass level 1 and short circuit the laser defense grid, you need to complete 9 puzzles.  This unlocks the "Energy Efficient" achievement.

- To pass level 2 and short circuit the security cameras, you need to complete 15 more, 24 total, puzzles.  This unlocks the "Disappearing Act" achievement.

- To pass level 3, and short circuit and raise the electrical bars, you need to complete 11 more, 35 total, puzzles.  This unlocks the "Grounded" and "Open Sesame" achievement.

- To pass level 4, you need to complete all of the puzzles on each of the 15 difficulty levels.

You do NOT need to complete every puzzle on every difficulty level to gan access to the vault, additionally you can keep playing the puzzles after you have gained access to the vault.  However by completing every puzzle on every difficulty level, you will continue to be rewarded.

As you bypass each of the locks, you will get a motivational call from Sophia encouraging you to hurry up an defeat the security systems faster.  When she calls, first press *Answer* to answer the call

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5147/5758891198_34bea34c2a.jpg
Sophia Call by MagicToaster, on Flickr

then press *speaker* to put her on speakerphone.

The goal of this game is to get a blue circuit board out of he grid through the hole on the right side. However, the wooden blocks obstruct the path.

Because documenting each move in order would take way too much space and time, for the purposes of this walkthrough, I will link to a video showing how to solve the puzzle and post a picture of the final configuration so you can understand where you are trying to get each of the blocks so you can extract the chip.

The "Runes Puzzles" are similar to Sudoku in that you are provided a sectioned off grid and must place each tile into the grid resulting in each color being contained in its own section, and each row and column (diagonals do not matter) having only one of each symbol in them.  When placing tiles on the board, if you make an invalid placement, the location you tried to place it will glow white, as will the tiles that are causing the rejection.

The easiest way to attack this puzzle it by start with one color section and fill it in first, then work your way on to the next color.  There are always some tiles that are "give-mes", in that there is only one place they can be placed on the board.  Getting those in early will make it easier.  The solutions for each of the different stages are as follows:

To solve the"Block Puzzle", tap the screen to move the robot to that location, when just moving the robot, you can move as many squares as you like.  To move a block tap next to the robot to move the robot adjacent to the block, then tap the block once; when pushing a block, you can only move 11 square at a time.  The robot will push the block in the opposite direction.

NOTE:  The robot can only PUSH blocks, so make sure you have planned out what you are doing before pushing a block against the side of the puzzle as you will not be able to PULL it off the side.

To complete the "Circuit Puzzles" you must connect the like colored point by sliding the wire tiles to create a like colored line between the two nodes.  The general approach you want to follow when trying to solve these puzzles it to start by moving the pieces into the general area where they need to end up before trying to get them in the right order.  Work on a specific 2X2 section and then move on.

Because denoting every single move will take up too much space, the following are the configurations you are attempting to achieve for each puzzle:

Woo, finished the game. Took me longer than expected, but was still doable. Does anyone know whether you get bonus software if you complete every puzzle available?

Yup and it's Steam based so hopefully it uses Steam Cloud to sync your position between machines.

Just wanted to say thanks for putting this together, markbett. I'm having a really hard time doing the color based puzzles, and am feeling too OCD to let them go. wink

I know you're working your butt off to show the solutions and I admire the work you're doing.

But with the rune puzzles aside, showing the end solution doesn't help. Folks need to see the steps to get to the solution. Which block/slider to move that will allow you to have the final solution.

Good luck.

i understand what you are saying and somewhat agree but each of the other puzzles are about 20-40 steps and there are 15 of each so for at least right now, that is what i am going to put up…. i might put up more later I just dont know

For Level 15 of maintenance the blocks are lit up in this order: bottom right, bottom left, middle left, middle right, top left, top right.

Here are some screen shots I took of it if it helps: www [dot] flickr [dot] com/photos/qsheets/sets/72157626801173484/

You should be asked to log in after you've opened all the four locks.

Agreed, but I couldn't wait.
If that's all "The Heist" is about MacHeist is dead.

Is this MacHeist 4? Definitively, no. This is what we promise to be the very last piece of dessert before the main event.

Willing to give up a hint or solution then?  This is the one and only puzzle in the whole app that I just cannot solve.

EDIT: Posted this before I saw the Flickr pictures.  THANK YOU!  I figure I would have got it eventually, but I stayed up till 4 AM last night until my iPod ran out of batteries and still hadn't solved it.  It's more complicated than I thought -- I was trying to engage some sort of "deck shuffle" pattern sending the top blocks to the bottom and vice versa.

Some of these wooden-block sliding games are frustrating me no end. I'm gonna need an idiots guide step-by-step walkthrough before long lol I enjoyed the robot game, did those quite quickly - probably says something about my mind that I can do one kind of game without trouble and really struggle with the others :-\

You're very welcome! I'm glad the pictures helped.

Before I solved it, I probably spent 2 hours dwelling on this one puzzle. I kept trying to do the middle row last and then tried doing it left to right which failed miserably... but solving it is a major relief once you figure out how to.

I have no problem with the sliding blocks or the sudoku ones, but the wires puzzles are a little bit of a mystery to me, even when I end up solving them.  I think my short term memory is the problem smile  The robot ones are half and half - toughest but I can work them out logically.

The wire ones you have to piece together before you start sliding the tiles and putting them in place... almost like the old computer game TetraVex. Match the colours and number of outputs on the sides of each tile.
