Finally figured out a long-standing issue I had with saving ftp server info.
I think I can actually try the program now ![]()
I still haven't bought Coda, and I think it's about time this app's mature enough to be compared against it.

F everyone. Scribbles is neat!
I'm currently working on a website that I had to put on hold before college exams, and now with those exams finished, I returned to find... an update!
You know, it's the little insignificant things in an app that put a smile on my face. With the new projects organizer, the main colors in my website were red, so I thought okay, I'll make that project folder red. And voila. I thought, hey, this is cool, and I can add a custom icon to it too? I rooted around in my image repository, and used a stock image from my website for it. And presto, engraved on my folder is a near replica of the image I picked out. That's pretty cool.
There is a lot of little fixes I like. I can now default to opening the project organizer, the image preview is absolutely killer (that might be my favorite since I have so many images), and the find in project has come in handy countless times when going through and clearing out rogue divs.

Espresso 1.1 is definitely much faster at starting up. Feels warm and fuzzy, like an actual Mac app ![]()
I really like where Espresso is going, but I am not completely sold on it versus Textmate yet.
I still use Textmate for all my development, but then I find myself using Espresso just to update my live site using their FTP publishing features.
Espresso's snippets run insanely slow for me. They aren't organized by anything other than name. The "Language" selection fails often for me on HTML files (it says it recognizes it as HTML, but doesn't color the text at all).
If they keep going with the improvements and fix some of the issues they've got right now this app will be amazing. Until then, it's just a useful tool, not a necessity like Textmate.
If they manage to get it to install Textmate bundles as Sugars they will win a lot of people over. Here's hoping!

I've had Espresso open pretty much every day since the 1.1 update. It's given me smooth workflow at last!
Yes there are a few big improvements that could be made, image stats on preview, split code/preview view, snippet organisation, and a few more of the CSSEdit tricks would make another huge difference, but it's still a lovely app to use day-today now.
Keep up the improvements MacRabbit!
with best regards,
Karn.

Good news!!!! its about time! This is awesome!!!
Looks like Espresso 2 has been officially released. Sounds good from what I have read so far.
From the FAQ (http://macrabbit.com/espresso/faq/):
Already an Espresso user? Awesome! If you own a license for version 1.x, you qualify for a free (if purchased after 10 April 2009) or $29 upgrade to Espresso 2. CSSEdit customers also receive a discount. Enter your old Espresso or CSSEdit license code, or the e-mail address you used for your original order, to get your free or discounted upgrade:
If I recall correctly April 10th, 2009 was the start of the MH3 bundle sale so I presume the license from that qualify as a free upgrade. Time will tell.

Hmm … looks like I have the timeline wrong … OP is from March 25th, 2009.
Espresso was one of the locked apps so the question is when was it unlocked?
Could the cut of date be the unlock date or is it instead just after the bundle sale ended?

The TL;DR on Espresso 2 Upgrading.

It basically answers the main question (discounted not free upgrade) and is an enlightening read.
