It just occurred to me not too long ago that there are a lot of really good apps for the iPhone/Touch that not many people know about. For instance, I just bought Hydro Tilt. I've never heard of it, it's not on the top 100 anything, and I don't even know where I learned about it. It's addicting. It's better than many apps on the Top 100.

So I thought I'd make a thread where everyone can share some underrated/obscure/not well-known apps with the rest of us.

Mine: Hydro Tilt. If you've played Switchball on a PC or Xbox, this is very similar. You're a drop of water that can take on multiple forms (liquid, solid, gas) to solve puzzles and make it to the finish line.

Mine is definitely TanZen. It has so many levels (like 426?), and it;s only $0.99.

I also really like Fuzzle. Out of all the apps I've bought, I've used this one the most.

Gamelab is also cool, because the promise a new game every month.

Strategery is like a sexy/good looking version of Risk. A little less fun, but nicer looking.

7 Cities and Besiegement are great TD games.

Deep Green is the best Chess game ever.

I'm pretty sure that most of these are under-rated.

Sweet. I just bought Gamelab and Strategery. Strategery looks similar to Dice Wars, which is an awesome game. I bought 7 Cities not that long ago; I'd have to say it's as good, if not better than Fieldrunners.

I wish I had some money on PayPal to play these games... tongue
Crayon Physics Deluxe is a great game, though it's kind of slow.
TriniTower is also a great game that no-one seems to know. Plus, the interface is spectacular, which is always nice.

Not to be confused with Wurdle (which BigMark suggested - and is great) is Wordle.  And it's free.  I also like MetaSquares... which is also free right now.

I've got a lot of games, but most of them are pretty well known.  The least known is probably Fingeric and it is free.

Check this one out. It just came out today and is really fun.

Yet another good one, probably the best bowling game out there. I'm not sure why it's Lite considering there's no other version, but it's a full-featured game (including Wii-like bowling using the accelerometer).

It's probably not underrated, but I have taken a fancy to EA's Monopoly wink

Other than that, I love iDrops. I do a bunch of other puzzle games, but iDrops seems to keep some of its freshness.

Why are some games not available worldwide? I would love to get Monopoly and Scrabble when I get my iPod Touch, but they aren't available here - even though other EA games like Sudoku and Yahtzee are.

It's not underrated, but Rolando is INCREDIBLE. Underrated? Tris - a free alternative to Tetris (it has been removed from the App Store as far as I can see though).

Well, it's been a while since anyone has posted here and there are a lot more apps in the store now, so I figured I'd revive this thread.
Here are a few that I've found lately:

Jabeh - Played Shinro? This one's much better.
Bobby Carrot Forever - Not sure if it's underrated, but that pricetag is a bit steep (though it is a very fun game)
CuBert - If you've played Q*bert on PS1, you'll love this clone.
geoDefense - Fun tower defense game. It's extremely difficult and makes you think every wave of the game.

I also like Tap Defense, which is free.

Westward - manage your own Western frontier town - a simpler take on SimCity, and fans of games like Civilization and Age of Empires should like this.

Downhill Bowling - about halfway between bowling and motorcycle racing.  Just the ability to drop a bomb if your bolwing ball isn't close enough to the pins is great.

Dungeon and Hero - old '80s style roleplaying game. There is also a new one with better graphics, The Quest, which I haven't tried yet.

Fieldrunners, Heavy Mach and Lux DLX are great but popular games.
Zen Bound is one of the best games for iPhone and it's getting quite popular.
Ivory Tiles, Briscas, WordFu and Mancala FS5 may be the ones for me which are not so popular. Mancala and Briscas are actually old games everybody should learn. Ivory Tiles is addicting and you'll try to solve all the levels. WordFu seems impossible at first other than getting a white belt, but as you play, you see that you get better with the challenge.
Westward is a must for every RTS fan.
I also like to break the time records on Hanoi Plus.

I like the following games:
Smiles (Block clearing game)
Platypus (Side-scrolling shooter - in claymation!)
7 Colors (Ridiculously simple game to turn as many squares into the same color)
Wurdle (Like boggle)
Solebon (Solitaire)
Music Neon (connect neon lights to clear rows)
Frotz (A collection of text-based adventures like Zork!)
reMovem Free (Block clearing game)
Enigmo (Get water droplets from one place to the other by using given tools)

TapDefense.
Most people see FieldRunners as THE Tower Defense game for the iPhone, but I think TapDefense is a very solid game more people should consider playing.

Besides, it's also free smile

iTD. Initially I was turned off by the "inferior" graphics, but the gameplay is great IMO.

Fieldrunners, TapDefense, 7 Cities, and TheCreeps are all good (or great) tower defense games, but I play iTD the most-- by far-- and it's only $1.99.

My favorite is Jelly Car 3.In my opinion has a lot of potential in being a great game, the controls are amazingly easy and is one of those games you can just relax while playing. It is far more better then the previous Jelly Car games because you have more customization on how your car looks.

Assuming that this is not just spam, where did you find 6 hours a day for an iPhone game?
