ok... the new update to uncheck relevance was kind of cool - It allowed my songs to play in order...
However, when I search for ABBA I get one Abba album at the top followed by tons of kABBAlah material then more ABBA. [even putting a space after ABBA keeps the kabbalah material before most of it.]
The only work around is to check relevance again...
Is there not a way to just have it search by how it is grouped?
ie. Abba is all together and not separate - yes relevance, but in the same token not to have it play most played songs first, but the order I have them put in.
Anyway, if that could be addressed it would really be great! ![]()

Thanks for the update! Only thing is, it's now sorting alphabetically ![]()
I think what's more useful is the album order, as opposed to alpha order. I listen to pretty much all my music in the order it appears when I use iTunes to sort by album.
This is still incredibly useful though, and I appreciate the attention concerns/suggestions have been given already! Impressive ![]()
Will Tracks scrobble songs that I've played on my iPod when I sync it with iTunes?
Using the new update:
I'm having this weird issues where I select a song, and unlike others where it just stops when the track is done, it acts like I put iTunes on shuffle, even now that I've turned shuffle on, and it should be on "play to end of current list."
I've tried it with sort by relevance checked and without it checked. Tracks seems to be stuck on shuffle.
edit: it's a weird shuffle though, as it'll often choose 2 or 3 songs from the same artist/album in a row and then move to something else. Not always, but fairly frequently. I can't seem to see the pattern in its choices though...
The update is sweet, and now I see all album tracks in the order the tag says is correct. But it's using over 130MB, which seems a bit much. I have the memory, but Scrivener is using less than a sixth of that, with my massive output in memory all the time ![]()
sonicsoul wrote:Really stupid question, but how do I get Tracks to continue playing songs after selecting one? It just plays the one tracks and then stops.
This.
Have to agree with this one as well. Like the app otherwise, but this was pretty annoying. If I've searched on an artist, and the app shows me albums and I select a song on one of them, I pretty much expect it to continue playinhg the song after that one I selected as well.

I'm very grateful for the app and credit the developers for creating something so streamlined... though I must ask if it's something to draw me away from CoverSutra? I'm not asking out of malice, but out of genuine naïve curiosity... because I don't have a great track record of spotting things that aren't obvious at first sight.
Does anyone have an answer to this? I have coversutra from a previous MH, and it works fine, but since I now have a licence for tracks I was wondering if there was any reason to switch?

Tracks works like this: press keyboard shortcut (alt-escape by default), start typing the name of a song you want to play, press return to play it.
I don't remember how CoverSutra's workflow looks like, but you are currently using it so I think you can mentally compare the two and realize if it's worth switching for you ![]()

Did that, but couldn’t see anything worth switching for. I guess I was hoping there was some killer feature I had overlooked before consigning it to wire basket 'archive'.

Tracks can also search the iTunes Music Store, which Coversutra doesn't do. Other than that, they are identical in terms of features. Tracks seems to be a bit snappier for me, but it also uses up more memory.

I tried it but it really annoys me that it opens up iTunes when I select a song.I rather continue using Quicksilver. That works without the need to have iTunes open.

Oh, then I guess I never actually used CoverSutra that much.. I liked Tracks' minimalistic approach to the task, no jewel case, no HUD with controls, just the search field.
But as far as features are concerned there seems to be nothing else so I think you are right.
Has anyone had conflicts with Tracks and the iPod Shuffle? My shuffle is acting up and I am troubleshooting. I don't know that Tracks is the problem, but I'm trying to eliminate it. Sometimes, only when Tracks is running, iTunes appears twice in PathFinder, which stops happening when I turn of Tracks and restart PathFinder. My Shuffle also appears twice in iTunes and when I turn off Tracks and restart iTunes it appears only once. I still have iPod issues w/out Tracks running, however, but this duplication makes me wonder. Ideas?

I just figured out the issue (at least with me). If a song was playing (ie paused) when you started to use Tracks, it will only play the song you choose from Tracks and stop. If you clear that paused song (by going to the iTunes store, for example), it will then play the rest of the songs. Perhaps this is a bug the devs can fix?
I'm currently using Mousqueak for similar tasks. There's a Mousqueak plugin which lets you explore your library in a similar way, plus it seems to have much more features (next-previous track, pause, change volume, always using a small sidebar). I think Tracks is nice but I don't think it's worth switching, unless I'm missing some killer features (besides iTunes Music Store search)
Err.. when I click on the link to register, I get an error message saying
"The serial number you tried to activate seems to be malformed. Please make sure you're using the original purchase receipt or contact our technical support."Has anyone else encountered this ?
same here. still no serial at my receipt. :-(

Tracks can do next/previous, pause, change volume with keystrokes. That's 123081 times better than a sidebar ![]()
A question I have is that I have my music on Network Drive with an iTunes server. Even with the drive mounted, I can not access the files on the drive (not part of the main iTunes library I guess). Is there a way for me to take advantage of "Tracks" for this ?

I'll have to look into that then. Thanks very much.

ditto. i wrote support yesterday (Sunday) morning, that bounced (bizarrely, the support button on the error message opens an email message addressed to support@conceited.net!), re-sent my message to support@conceitedsoftware.com and all i hear since then is the wind whistling across the lonesome coastal prairie. At the least this delay's given me an opportunity to re-experience CoverSutra, which i've now exhumed from near-oblivion in my Applications folder, and gee it's not bad at all.

Really? I wonder if it's just a coincidence or that's supposed to happen.

Same problem here, says malformed serial so cant activate ![]()
Can anyone do me a favor and load up tracks preferences and tell me what the default shortcut is for "show/hide Tracks"? Accidentally cleared it out. Thanks
I show the default key combo for "show/hide Tracks" to be Option + Escape.

I have emailed the dev about this. The fact that I basically have to be connected to the internet in order to have clips and tracks activated really sucks. I travel tons for work, and don't always have access to the internet.
Having my apps kick in and out of registered just because they can't access the activation server falls under too stringent anti piracy security.
same here, had it blocked with Little Snitch after activation (just in case, I don't use the last.fm feature, I would if it allowed streaming of songs, but that's another story) and today it went into Expired mode ("couldn't check on trial period duration" or something it said)...
Apart from the fact that the registration still seems valid, I would hate to see this pop up every time I start Tracks (every time I start the computer)...

ok, Activation expired still pops up on launch, disabled autostart and quit... wtf you guys already know I'm a legitimate user upon first activation, why check that all the time?

Love Tracks so far! But... as there is room for improvement in everything, a few feature that would make it really excellent:
- Addition of a button/keyboard shortcut to create a genius playlist from the currently playing track.
- Option to have albums display in track order when an artist name is entered.
- Warning pop-up if the official last.fm app is running while Tracks is running with last.fm scrobbling enabled (to avoid double-scrobbling).
- iPod scrobblling supprort
Keep up the good work!
Tracks isn't working. I downloaded it and it was perfect at first. Now whenever i open it i get the beachball and it quits. Anyone else have the same problem?
Anyone can help?
Still using Tracks daily. Could use some more functionality like specifying what field your searching (as of now you still can't search genre for example). The dev's quick with additions though (I actually made them add the option to not sort by relevance) so I have high hopes. E-mail them ![]()
I don't know if this is a problem, but I can't play any podcast files, but I see the files in the search result. Can tracks play Podcast files normally?
I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. I can search podcasts but can not play them using Tracks. Other songs work as expected.
I've always found minimising itunes into the little mini player OK for everything I need, an extra utility would have to offer a lot more than tracks to make it worthwhile. Tracks went the way of iclips and coverscout....

A few days ago, I got a pop-up message saying my version of Tracks had expired and I need to connect to the internet to activate the full version. Even when I am connected to the internet, I can't get rid of the message or get to any place where I can enter my serial number. Anyone else have this problem?
