I had this on my Appshopper watchlist, and bought it right away! I'm scared of what the sandbox will impose on this app though... :S
Is the iPad version worth it? I always have my iPhone with me but not always my iPad...

Even at 50% off I am not sure I can justify this. I have the Mac and iPhone version and that suits me well. Not sure what the iPad app would add to my workflow.
I didn't go to university. Didn't even finish A-levels. But I have sympathy
for those who did.

I have Todo from Appigo ( http://www.appigo.com/todo/mac ) and I'm learning GTD. Do you think Omnifocus would bring much more that what I have ? It seems interesting but it's still quite expensive even at 50% discount
And iPhone version is not discounted

It's significantly better than Todo. The quick entry window, for one, lets you enter projects, contexts and so on. You can send emails directly to OF using a hotkey. Perspectives are really powerful too. Just about everything is better.
The one thing that OmniFocus does not have that Todo has, is Toodledo support. You can only sync with their apps (through a wide variety of services). There is no web version either.
Try the demo out, but note that there is a learning curve to use it. Watch some of the videos.

I switched from Todo to OF three months ago. It is worth every penny for me, even at full price. Todo would be fine if you don't need to manage lots of different lists. Also, OF is a WAY faster workflow thanks to all of the keyboard shortcuts. I can plow through an inbox of 30-40 items in 10 minutes or less. The key to OF is you have to really think through your system's arrangement. It's biggest weakness is the inability to put something in multiple contexts (todo has tags, I think, which allows this).
Also, the perspectives makes OF very good at showing you exactly what you want to see when trying to actually get stuff done. In todo, it's much harder to only see the items you want. Todo's lack of start dates was the deal breaker for me, as I have projects different points throughout the year, and I don't always want to see them until I need to.

Note that the direct from developer version is also on sale. I didn't notice until too late... however support sent me a regular license key when I provided proof of purchase! That's what pushed me over the edge to buy the iPad version too.
I love when companies are like this.

Paid full price for the iPad app
but have picked up the mac app finally
Paid full price for the Mac app (from the developers)
and I finally succumbed to temptation and got the iPad app ![]()
Glad I did, I can see it becoming my main method of task management.

What makes you prefer the direct from developer version ?

I've finally jumped on the promo. I need more than one week to test a software. That's my problem with promo ![]()

Faster updates, "sneaky peek" versions, upgrade prices, extra features (once sandboxing kills some of them*).
*Right now it's not sandboxed, but if they make any updates with *any* new features, Apple will force it.

FWIW, I did the same thing and mailed Omni to request a non-MAS version, and they simply asked for my iTunes receipt, and gladly sent me the code. I've been very happy with Omni's support thus far, to the point that I may actually buy a few other products at full price.
