icarusfountain - "Is TextMate significantly better?" Depending on who you ask (including me), that's a resounding YES. I also use SubEthaEdit for cooperative work, but because of the insanely useful and 100% customizable bundles, TextMate is like the ultimate editor mixed with the ability to make it into an IDE. It's not an IDE, but it has fairly tight integration with Xcode and other build tools. The snippets are actually very useful. Just write "class", hit tab, and you have a skeleton that's ready to use. And if you don't like the snippets, change them or make your own. I can't express how much I love TextMate. If you do a lot of coding (or even really a lot of anything else involving text), you'll probably fall in love with it too. Try the 30-day trial, it will change your life. (Well, maybe not, but it will change the way you edit text.)

have you used it? it's great for a short nap, esp. during no-sleep exam week, like what i am currently going through.

then again, i did get it for free via MDA... i don't think i would have bought it otherwise.

Though the question wasn't for me: Yes, I have used it and though it may have its uses it is still kind of pointless. The simple reason? Everything the program does you can do just as good (or even better) on your own. There are plenty of sites/books that teach you everything you need to know about meditation, self-programming, hypnosis, whatever. And the best thing: You don't even need a computer for it.

I agree this would be awesome for someone wanting TextMate; however, for anyone who enjoys the value of giving to charity, doing such a thing might leave a sore spot with them.

Personally I've never been a fan of using charity to push sales which is what's really happening here even if it comes in the form of either upgrade sales or trying to keep users from trying competitors' products out.  Also it's too easy to set a negative tone if goals cannot be reached in the end.

Of course in the online world how does anyone really know what's going on behind the scenes.  It wouldn't be hard to setup a counter that represents $$$ needed and set the flow of $$$ to end up being over what was hoped for just so the promotion doesn't look like a failure.

I'm not accusing anyone of this but I'm sure it could be done.

I told you that in IM! Srsly though, not giving away the locked apps, just unlocking them for individual people who participate in the heist.

Sounds brilliant to me.

I think we will have to wait till the countdown is over. As based on the money raised for charity they will decide what apps we get, I think it is only logical that the last heist begins after the charity countdown ends.

No, Phill TOLD us that it would be happening this week.  So it's not that logical to think that when I have the word of the Directorate that it will be happening.

Yeah I think Heist 6 and the Bundle will not be related that much. It offers too many variables to deal with when building a heist if it depends the actions of others (purchasing bundles).

This is probably just random text, but it came at the end of phil's 100k thank you card:

This is the begining of the greeting text, consectrtuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat colupat. Ut wisi enimad jenhsdy 200 characters. When I use this latin translator (http://www.translation-guide.com/free_o … h&to=Latin) I get the following result:
consectrtuer to come up to elit , but diam ninth nibh euismod tincidunt when laoreet pain magna some was cultivate. When wisi in fact jenhsdy characters. Rud to train tation ullamcorper to raise up lobortis nisl when some out of this to make fit according to reason. Duis but or he iriure pain upon henderit upon vulputate skirmish to be annoyance according to reason eut feugiat nulla easy but in truth eros and to add to a heap and due forms to hate

When i remove the nonsense I get this:
but when pain some was cultivate. When in fact characters. to train to raise up when some out of this to make fit according to reason. He pain upon upon skirmish to be annoyance according to reason but in truth and to add to a heap and due forms to hate

Seems like a lot of latin to be a coincidence. Does random text use a lot of latin words? Seems like a wild goose chase, doesn't it? Fghql uneq.

Chances are that the text at the end is just random filler text - lorem ipsum basically... but I don't know the translation of lorem ipsum enough to be able to tell right off the bat.

That's because Lorem Ipsum has no translation - it's not actually latin. It just looks like latin. Sure, there are some proper latin words here and there, but it's not latin.

From www.lipsum.com ...

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.

Re the message at the end - I'm doing latin at uni - the text is a mangled version of a version of a cicero text - de finibus malorum et bonorum - or the extremes of good and evil - its commonly known as the 'lorem ipsum' text, though without those first two words its much harder to recognise - below is the Lorem Ipsem text, the original latin, my transcription of the message text, and an english translation of the latin:

LOREM IPSUM TEXT:

MESSAGE TEXT:
This is the beginning of the greeting text, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat.  Ut wisi enimad jenhsdy 200 characters.  Rud exerci tation ullamcorper suscipit lobortis nisl ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat.  Dius autem vel eum iriure dolor in henderit in vulputate velit esse molestie consequat, eut feugiat nulla facilisis at vero eros et accumsan et iustod odiodi this is the end of sample greeting text, 500 characters.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THE LATIN TEXT:
Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?
On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain.

As for me, I'm stumped - hope this helps someone - I want to know if there's a hidden message, and what it is if so!

[edit - skipped a small part of the text.. oops!]
