Did you participate in the sixth heist and claim your loot? If so, you've probably found a coupon for the Safe Deposit beta program as part of the bundle. I've noticed a little confusion pertaining to it, so I'd just like to clarify how everything will work:

- After clicking on the link in the loot which leads to the Safe Deposit blog, you'll now have access to previews of the app (in blog and beta form).

- To keep up on the development side, just check back or subscribe to the blog's RSS feed. We'll send an email out when the beta itself is ready for download!

- Beta testers will receive a complimentary copy of Safe Deposit 1.0 as a token of our appreciation smile

Please feel free to ask any other questions you have about Safe Deposit in this thread, which will also serve as a forum for comments linked from the blog posts.

And be sure to look out for a preview on the blog coming very soon...

Hello. I went to the link in my loot, but I wasn't able to beta test the application. How would I be able to access it to beta test?

Forgive me my ignorance but does that mean that the loot is for nothing more than a chance to use the beta's but will not get the 1.0 version unless the person beta's it or pays upon release?

In a nutshell, yes, upon beta completion, you get 1.0......im assuming it will be like cha-ching in that regard

Photo678, yeah I gathered that but some developers consider beta testers to be anyone who has access to their beta apps but doesn't necessarily have to be active testers.  Others only consider those actively communicating with the developer on issues with the software to be beta testers.  I probably should have been more clear in my post about it.

Well, this is sort-of on topic:

I have this incredible mental block on the name of the font used at the top of the blog page, for the name "safe deposit".

This is unusual for me (design geek) but this is sort of keeping me awake at night.

Any help, anyone?

Thanks.

Oh, I dig.....i think WE are the beta testers...as in it isn't open to the GP....at least that is the impression that I got...

further, i don't think it has to be an active type of thing...or  I may be entirely wrong.

And with that, I have jumped onto the hype train. That looks AWESOME.

It reeks of Delicious Generation, sure, but if it's functionality first (which it definitely seems), then I'm all for it - there's nothing wrong with DG if it's done right.

Ahahahahaha. Brilliant! I currently use Permanent Eraser for my shredding needs, and while it has the nice touch of having a finder toolbar icon, it definitely doesn't match that animation.

Hopefully not all - animations during processes that are otherwise boring is great, animations that get in the way of getting work done - not so much.  Let's hope taste and sense prevail in making sure the Delicious Generation stays nutritious, too.  smile

Exactly, animations can be substituted whenever there would otherwise be a standard blue progress bar.

Disco has the boring wait for the disk to burn, and now Safe Deposit will have the shredder while the file gets removed.

I can't wait until this gets released! Do we get any future updates past 1.0, or will we have to pay for them? If we will have to pay, is there a theoretical price for it as of now?

whoa, calm down tiger!  Ollie's still in early development stage, now.  When there are decisions made, he'll be sure to share - you can be sure he wants some money in his pocket more than you want to put it there.  wink

Ollie,

In the preferences are we going to be able to change the shredding output? Confetti versus strips? Is Jason Harris whipping-up one where you light the contents on fire and it goes up in smoke? You can call it the "pyro" shred. wink

Yup, there will be preferences for that wink And for the e-nvironmental conscious of you out there, there will even be a paperless shredding option.
