Anyone know how to do this yet?
And anyone know why this audio file is embeded into the briefings page:

Most likely just so whenever the card is inserted into the slot, that sound plays to make it sound like it's being read, or punched out, or whatever.

MacHeist is sweet.  Period.

According to Phill, the briefing starts later this week...

As for the audio, its probably for when the card gets accepted, it prints a receipt or something, and thats the print sound? That's my guess... But I don't know.

good idea though.

edit: Phil mentioned earlier on irc that we should start more threads in the lounge, and it was in a critical stage right now. Might be nothing though.

I poked at the page source, it seems that the "cards" will just be things you put in the slot to see the briefing. One card per mission.

It's like the mission impossible "this card will self destruct" after we read it.  and most likely, after installing HeistAgent from the Loot page, it will popup when the Heists arrive, and give us the Briefings card. And we can only start on the missions after "destroying the evidence."

I dunno, just my theory.

I really wish that HeistAgent was a dashboard widget and not an app...

Edit: Does it just sit in the background until it gets notice?  Odd...

No it contacts mhstatic.com once in a while.

edit: I theorize that the first briefing will occur when the post count in the Lounge reaches some predefined number and my guess is 1300 posts and that is the reason for the library and the lounged were merged.

Yes, we did.  Now I just need to remember where it was unless someone can upload it.  It's called Cypher.

I don't think that's morse code. It does sound a bit like a printer, perhaps you could figure out what it's printing? Nah, a bit far fetched. However, from what I can remember from MH1, some things are VERY far fetched :P

Unfortunately I wiped my hd earlier today. Otherwise I would have no problem in finding Cypher. Perhaps I have a backup. Let's hope. But I thing urangrodan and majicman10211 are right on this one.

could be, but I think that that's just the sound for printion out something, becaus it sounds EXACTLY like a reciept printing out.

I just wondered where you have to put the card into. Because there is also a small slot right under the little monitor which says "Insert Card...". In my opinion this slot is probably the one to put the card in because its not logically to have a message on a screen about something on the left side. Normal users read and use from top to bottom. Else it might be vice versa. Anyway there are too slots one for putting the card in, and one will print a sheet of paper.

You obviously have to put the card in the left slot, since this slot is called "slot" and the big one is called "printerslot".
I suppose that the card will be showing on the left space and that some info will come "print" out at the right space.

Yes. I just checked the source code. I already edited my post some seconds after writing, but forgot to send it.

<div class="panel">
<div class="slot" id="slot"></div>
<div class="screen" id="screen">Insert Card...</div>
<div class="screenglare"></div>
<div class="printerslot"></div>
</div>

Also there is a javascript and all the items are currently, marked with style.display='none';. Changing that value didn't work to make anything occur.

I bet there will be cards under the slot which can be dragged into the slot, but its probably not done yet.

not necessarily.  I did some of the heists from my PC last time.  Not everything can be done, or done as easily, though (in fact most things are not as easy).

Heard you guys mentioning cypher. Though I'm not sure it's going to be of any help (at least not at the moment), I uploaded it in case any of you wanted to play with it. Click here!.

It would normally be on MacMage.com, but we're setting up a new site which will hopefully open within the next few days with the new Santa's Gizmo.

I noticed there are two numbers on the card, that look a lot like dates...

200711231406 - could be 23 november 2007  14:06, creation time of the card?

and the second number at the bottom looks a lot like a unix timestamp, just add two zeroes:
1197459200 - 12 / 12 / 07  6:33am

again, this could be just nothing, or my imagination going berserk smile
