Is there a web-based IRC that works through most firewalls/proxies?  We're pretty locked down at work, the only chat application that isn't blocked is MSN Messenger.

Well, if macnn has an SSL-dedicated port like 6697 it might work, because maybe only 6667 is blocked.

Not sure what client you're using, but in Colloquy, you can change the defaults for each connection in the connections window (Cmd-1) using Get Info. I'd imagine Linkinus/Macheist version has something similar.
