I can picture it...

The bloke is dressed like any Joe Nobody, and the "victim" goes around all Franklin Sq. asking everybody and anybody "Do you know where I might be able to find an umbrella, sir?", gaining many funny looks along the way wink

Better be careful with that. I recorded an hour-long conversation yesterday for a project with WireTap Pro, and when it was done it froze up my system and everything was lost.

Odds are good that the Directorate won't want to humiliate any heisters by not actually showing up...

Or would they? ;-)

It would be interesting to see the demographic on who shows up?  Will it look like a Star Trek convention (Planet of the Geeks), a public school field trip, or some mish-mash?

In theory, theory and practice are the same, in practice, they are not.

position either a cellphone with a cam or a video cam in a fanny pack and record;
or if you have a cellphone with a mic record it using that,
or have another person record it while you talk to the man.

I see a few things that may or may not be significant, but I think are fishy; First, we're not supposed to trust anyone. But we have agents running around Philly looking for a "theif." (Not that I think we shouldn't have someone there... just something to think about).
Second, two threads have been started in the Backroom and were almost immediately deleted. Why are we only allowed to post about this here?
Last, the designer of the lightning bolt, Isamu Noguchi, also designed the gardens at IBM headquarters. Does that sound like a clue or have I spent too much time in the speculation threads?

<sarcasm>
Hmm... Isamu Noguchi designed gardens at IBM HQ... IBM made PowerPC chips... those chips went into many Macs... made by Apple, without which MacHeist would not have been created... MacHeist sending us on a trip to something designed by Isamu Noguchi...

It's all come full circle now! Suddenly, it all makes sense! (other jibber-jabber/ranting goes here)

Hmmm... it's funny about the threads in the Backroom. Maybe not everyone can see the Directorate Communiques? Have people been talking about this in the IRC?

I'm not so concerned about what the handoff looks like, we just need whatever we get to be well documented.

Well if the Heist comes to the greater Los Angeles area then I am down.... well it depends on where and when.

If it is Downtown L.A. then that would be tough - it can take 2 hours to go 15 miles.... Got to love L.A.

Should we be taking a closer look at the letter for hints? I mean with the odd time for the meeting (3:52) and plenty of words to hide stuff in, there could be something there.

But I, like the rest of the community, am paranoid.

You can say that again.  Philadelphia is as far from, say, Cupertino as London is from Baghdad.  And people wonder why most Americans don't visit foreign countries... hmm

Warbrain, I envision you shooting video during a rendevous with some seedy looking characters in black trenchcoats and shades (reminiscent of the Blues Brothers) at the base of the Sears Tower or maybe under the Picasso at the Daley Center, only to be deftly tackled by two dozen burly Chicago cops, swiftly hauled off in a black SUV by guys in suits, and flown to Guantanamo in an unmarked blackhawk helicopter.  Alas, we would likely never see the video!

Even worse, your sharp heisting skills would then be wasted away while you sit idle behind high voltage fencing and barbed wire for the remainder of this MacHeist (and maybe even the next one), missing the fun while longing for our cold, icy Chicago winter as you are cruelly forced to acclimatize to the balmy Cuban weather... Hmmm, maybe I could do a Chicago interview with you?
