I remember hearing them all the time on the radio when I lived in Hugelsheim. Kuessen Verboten was their big tune at the time. Bubble-gum pop is what I guess you can call it.

it is kind of hard with the number of people in the macheist, but now we have a smaller subset... and there is a smaller subset of that i am sure who will actually participate in the forum and irc channel.

So why don't we try to learn a little something about each other,

1. who are you? where are you from?
2. do you have a family at home? husband?/wife? kids?
3. what kind of work do you do?
4. what kind of hobbies do you enjoy?

and everyone should get on the IRC channel, get to know the other people...we really do have a great bunch of people here and it would be an awful waste to miss the opportunity to get to know some of them, you may even make some new friends that last well beyond the macheist, and that is more valuable than and loot or bundle!
and lets try to keep this thread clean, relpy to this, but only quote the question list just a single entry so we can easily scan through and learn a little something about each other and we can discuss it more in IRC or another thread

1) My name is Jason and I am from Brunswick, Maine

2) I live with my girlfriend who hasn't kicked me out yet, and her little white dog who is madly in love with me. (which is probably why I haven't been kicked out yet!)

3) I work in IT at a local private college. I manage all public computing systems, including labs, classrooms, OS images, software, public printing and more.

4) Well, computers are number 1. I work with WIndows and OS X at work but Macs are my main systems. I have a new MBP, a MacPro, Intel XServe and an iMac in my office alone! After computers I do play some video games, love movies and traveling.

5) Music? I'm all over the place on that one. My music library has over 30,000 songs from all genres. Most ripped from CDs that are all in storage and of course iTunes purchases.

I would like to add a 6th question....What aspirations do you have? ie. where would you like to work, what do you want to be when you grow up?

My answer to that is very simple and clear. I want to work for Disney. Always have. Disney IT in Orlando is where I would go if an offer or even an opening were to show up!

Hi, my name's Andy, I'm in my 50's, single now after my wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in Oct.2007. She left me 3 great step daughters and their families in the UK, and 4 cousins and their families in Canada.

I drive a small van for a living delivering goods all over Europe, in a good month driving around 10,000 miles. It doesn't leave me much time for hobbies but I get out now and again for a drink or a meal and I'm resurrecting my interest in computers and puzzles with MacHeist as a way of dealing with living in a suddenly empty house.  My musical taste is varied, I like a lot of classical music and 70's to 2008, but mostly from more established musicians. Some of the new bands leave me cold.

Hi everyone. It's being enjoyable reading about you all, and seeing the different people that take part in MacHeist.

My name is Shane,42 and I'm in Canberra, Australia - but was originally a Kiwi.
I'm married with 1 daughter, 4 and a 2 yo son.
Manage systems development at a web hosting company. I've been a developer for 25 years or so. Since I left school.
I like cycling, hiking pottering in the garden - though I'm not a gardener. I enjoy watching anything funny on TV.
I've always listened to a wide range of music. Blues, Jazz, Hard Rock. Also Trance, Industrial all that kind of stuff.

Thanks for your referral clicks whoever you were.

Truly fascinating seeing the range of people here!  Cool to learn a wee bit about you all.  big_smile  Here's my info...

1. who are you? where are you from?
My name is John Einselen, and I'm from north-central Indiana, US, way out in the country.  I currently live just north of Detroit, Michigan, US.  I also go by Iaian, the Scottish-Gaelic form of John.

2. do you have a family at home? husband?/wife? kids?
No family, not engaged, no pets. But I do attend a great local church, so there's a lot of "family" there. smile

3. what kind of work do you do?
Visual effects, cg generalist, some live production work thrown in, and a little interactive design.  Currently working for Vectorform, which specialises in multi touch platforms and high end web development.

4. what kind of hobbies do you enjoy?
Photography, web programming (I suck, but it's all about the challenge!), a bit of hiking and costume design as well.  I've done some ancient wind instrument reconstruction as well, but that was when I was working at a museum, and had full run of the manufacturing room after hours.

5. what music do you like?
Anything with deep melodic structure, often with roots in American Folk and European traditions. This tends to cover a rather broad range, and I typically listen to anything from Eels and Snow Patrol to Karine Polwart and Dabney Morris, while avoiding country and anything with "metal" or "death" in the name.  big_smile

Awesome MacHeist this year, thanks to everyone involved!
