Truly fascinating seeing the range of people here! Cool to learn a wee bit about you all. Here's my info...
1. who are you? where are you from?
My name is John Einselen, and I'm from north-central Indiana, US, way out in the country. I currently live just north of Detroit, Michigan, US. I also go by Iaian, the Scottish-Gaelic form of John.
2. do you have a family at home? husband?/wife? kids?
No family, not engaged, no pets. But I do attend a great local church, so there's a lot of "family" there.
3. what kind of work do you do?
Visual effects, cg generalist, some live production work thrown in, and a little interactive design. Currently working for Vectorform, which specialises in multi touch platforms and high end web development.
4. what kind of hobbies do you enjoy?
Photography, web programming (I suck, but it's all about the challenge!), a bit of hiking and costume design as well. I've done some ancient wind instrument reconstruction as well, but that was when I was working at a museum, and had full run of the manufacturing room after hours.
5. what music do you like?
Anything with deep melodic structure, often with roots in American Folk and European traditions. This tends to cover a rather broad range, and I typically listen to anything from Eels and Snow Patrol to Karine Polwart and Dabney Morris, while avoiding country and anything with "metal" or "death" in the name.
Awesome MacHeist this year, thanks to everyone involved!
